The Future of HR in Europe - Key Challenges Through 2015

Andrew Spence's curator insight, January 14, 6:59 AM

According to BCG, organisations will face 5 particularly critical key challenges up to 2015, from a survey of 1355 HR Execs.

  • Managing talent
  • Managing demographics
  • Becoming a learning organisation
  • managing work-life balance
  • managing change and cultural transformation
Absolutely nothing new here.  In my view one of the key challenges for HR Execs is that there is a skills mismatch in HR.  The skills we need to deliver the 5 challenges above are not currently strong in HR.  For example, we need to supplement our teams and attract talented people with skills in behavioural science, analytics, mobile technology, programme management.

6 Secrets of Happiness from the Happiest People on Earth | Strategic HR, Leadership Development & Human Happiness | Scoop.it

Happiness seems unachievable to some; it’s easier to scowl so everyone knows you’re real and have been through some pain than it is to smile through the rain. The secrets of happiness are achievable by anyone, though.

It's all about authenticity. About being who you really are. Living the life that makes you feel good. Feeling in your hearth that 'this is right'. Making sure your actions are according to your deep felt personal values.  Being humble, thankful and respectful. I did not say tat this is easy. But you can feel it inside when you truly are the one you are in real life. It's a good feeling!

Eileen Klitvad's insight:

It should be so simple. It should be so natural. It should be so  human. Yet so difficult for many. Respecting yourself is the first step when you want to be seen as someone respecting others. For many this might be the most difficult part.

Mylene Berrebi Salomon's curator insight, January 26, 6:02 AM

The old and tired methods of command and control...I have title ...and do this or else style of leading is gone. 21st centruy success will be dictated by how collobaorative your team is and how you see power as a team concept not self...good comparative chart

John Michel's curator insight, January 18, 11:30 AM

As more companies adopt a culture of open innovation a new style of leadership is emerging. Collaborative leaders take a more open approach in the workplace. Team building and power sharing are replacing the traditional forms of corporate hierarchy. The role of leadership is evolving into a broad based team building approach that encourages creative thought in the workplace.
