Switzerland's appeal as a vacation destination is timeless. As proof, the nation's tourism authority springs "Clocks" on the masses. Spillman/Felser/Leo Burnett's film finds Sebi and Paul, a pair of bearded locals introduced earlier in the campaign, on a mission to remove or disable every timepiece in their wintery homeland to facilitate relaxing holidays for stressed-out travelers.

How to tell a story that stands out in the digital age?

How to tell a story that stands out in the digital age? | Tourism : StoryTravelling | Scoop.it

"To address the most important issue first: there is no such thing as digital storytelling. There’s only storytelling in the digital age, and frankly speaking this isn’t much different from storytelling in the age of hunters, gatherers, dinosaurs and ICQ. This doesn’t mean it cannot be challenging to tell a story people react upon online. On any given moment, hundreds of stories are unfolding around you, on Facebook, Twitter, and in niche social spaces. Many of them are much more interesting than anything a museum can possibly offer, at least, in the right here right now (because Justin Bieber might have really died this time, and you don’t want to be the last person to retweet that, do you?)."

Barcelona | Be Your Own Souvenir!

The installation was enjoyed during two weekends in January 2011 by the tourists, neighbours of La Rambla and citizens of Barcelona, a city that faces a trade-off between identity and gentrification, economic sustainability and economic growth. This shapes through a technological ritual where the audience is released from established roles in a perspective exchange: spectator-performer, artist-tourist, observer-object.

Storytelling Tip: Don't Let Facts Get in the Way

Storytelling Tip: Don't Let Facts Get in the Way | Tourism : StoryTravelling | Scoop.it
One of the first lessons I learned as a journalist was never to let the facts get in the way of a good story.

It's a lesson you should keep in mind when telling your story, too. In fact, it's a rule every good storyteller knows. And follows.

It's not about playing fast and loose with the truth. Far from it. Being honest with your audience is important. It's about knowing what to include when you tell your story -- and, equally important, what to leave out.

Peru | Brand Campaign 2012

"Unlike the man in the video, I waited until I was 54 to begin wandering the world, but the sentiment is the same. It is so easy to forget that love of friends and family, laughter, and joy are so much more important than working 70 hours per week for things like money, success, and fame, which in the end bring no joy. In my case, joy results from realizing, time and again, that we are all one human family, and Peru was one of the places on this earth that forcefully brought that message home." By Barbara Weibel

South Korea | Storytelling matters.

South Korea | Storytelling matters. | Tourism : StoryTravelling | Scoop.it

People who work in the tourism industry say Korea needs destinations with stories to achieve sustainable growth in tourism.

Dae Jang Geum Theme Park and Nami Island both were featured in popular drama series, but their similarities end there. The lack of a story was one of the reasons Dae Jang Geum Theme Park closed earlier this year, while Nami Island succeeded by rewriting its story from the remnants of failure.
