Sing Along and Move Around:
The adult will begin the next activities of storytime: listening to the song and watching the PowerPoint slideshow, "Going on a Bear Hunt." The children will be able to sing along to the song and participate in gross motor movements by going on a hypothetical bear hunt. During the bear hunt, children will pretend to move through a candy factory, a river, swamp and cave. Students really enjoy going on a bear hunt and will be able to do so two times during storytime.

Storytime: Oh my! It's a bear!
Storytime: Oh my! It's a bear! is a storytime based upon learning about bears, exploring critical thinking skills and practicing gross motor skills through body movements. This storytime includes fun and engaging activities for 4 to 5 year olds.

Initiation:
To initiate the storytime activities, the adult will ask the children to share what they know about bears and what it means for them to hibernate during the winter. (If children do not know what a bear is or what hibernation is, the adult will share this information with them).

Read Aloud:
After children share their thoughts, the adult will conduct a read aloud with the book "Old Bear" by Kevin Henkes. "Old Bear" is about a bear who is hibernating, sleeping during the winter months. While the bear is sleeping, the bear is dreaming about the different seasons until he wakes up in the season of Spring when hibernation is over. The adult will ask children to share knowledge about the four seasons. After the story is over, the children will be able to share thoughts with their peers and ask questions.
