Here's a solid article by Carmine Gallo about the 3 elementary ingredients a personal story needs to inspire others, and hopefully move them to action.

Gallo has a good discussion of all 3 elements, and explains them in a video that's part of the post. When you are crafting your personal stories, this is a good place to start.

People Buy Stories Before They Buy Stuff

People Buy Stories Before They Buy Stuff | Story Route | Scoop.it
Today, every marketer understands the value of story as a way to sell just about anything. But, still, few understand the right way to use story and narrative as a way to guide people on the perfect journey.

This is due in large part to the fact that it takes some skill, a bit of hard work and perhaps, more importantly, patience. A great story has many significant elements and to have the greatest impact each element must be built in a certain order – much like the foundation of a house must be laid before the walls and roof have a place to stand.

All Stories Are the Same

From Avatar to The Wizard of Oz, Aristotle to Shakespeare, there’s one clear form that dramatic storytelling has followed since its inception.
Cathryn Wellner's insight:

Friends who saw the latest Star Wars complained that it was the same story as the first, told with fantastic technology but not adding anything to the cannon. I respectfully disagree with their complaint because, yes, it was the same story - powerfully retold because it reaches deep within our psyches and sets something humming.

Enjoy the many ways stories can be told -- especially using different techniques and technologies. You don't need all these bells and whistles, but I bet you'll get ideas for ways you want to share some of your stories.

Kajsa Hartig's curator insight, January 9, 3:45 AM

A few insights: People gather around collections/interests not other people. How can museums curate collections more effieciently in social media? How can (curated) collections connect with communitites? Also: Stories are told 'on the fly'. How can museums connect with the visitors' own stories? How can the museum's and visitor's stories merge? Not yet sure about the role of Google for museums but some interesting thoughts here.

Dr. Madelyn Blair's curator insight, January 11, 4:52 PM

That said, he will give you some insights into what is happening in technology uses. And being informed is one of the best way to be prepared. Have fun listening to his excitement, energy, and focus.
