Good reason to keep an achievement diary with facts, dates and participants within your career.

ozziegontang's curator insight, March 20, 2013 2:19 PM

Curt Einstein would put it:  Tell me what you did and how you did it from A to Z.  If they couldn't tell the story of how it happened, then they may have been the boss but they didn't do it.

Lee Thayer's:  The measure of performance is performance tells what one has done in order to do what needed doing to accomplish the required results.  It's about results, not activities.

There is an ocean between saying and doing.

Visual Storytelling: The importance of the pause

Visual Storytelling: The importance of the pause | Stories - an experience for your audience - | Scoop.it

The still image has come to be known as the visual pause. For the audience can savor a moment rather than being bombarded by a constant moving image of life as we experience it in real time.

Even in video and film the still image is used to help the audience absorb the content. Ken Burnes is an American director and producer of documentary films, known for his style of using archival footage and photographs. He has mastered the use of the still image. The audience is not bored by the still image, but rather mesmerized and able to digest the content.

How Stories About Overcoming Adversity Can Inspire Your Employees

How Stories About Overcoming Adversity Can Inspire Your Employees | Stories - an experience for your audience - | Scoop.it

"

Seek out heroic stories to unleash your Inner Hero. Share heroic stories with your employees to unleash their Inner Hero.

Doing this increases everybody’s ability to face change, challenges, and uncertainty with a “Bring It On!” attitude.

I was reminded of the importance of doing these two things the other day."

More about Storytelling

"You may remember I wrote this post about Storytelling after I delivered a workshop on Digital Storytelling for One Blackpool in January. Since then, Storytelling has become something of a theme for me, and I have returned to it for presentations for Social Media Week in Lincoln, and at the Chartered Institute of Housing’s Wales Conference in Cardiff. Two important things I say to people about how they can use social media in their work are (a) tell your own story; why you are passionate about what you do, and (b) tell the story of the difference you make to people’s lives. And if you can get the people you help, serve, or sell to, to tell those stories themselves, that will be all the more powerful."
