Transmedia Storytelling Series: Lucile Chaufour

Transmedia Storytelling Series: Lucile Chaufour | Stories - an experience for your audience - | Scoop.it
The transmedia Storytelling Series will introduce three extraordinary transmedia artists from France to Toronto audiences.

Initiated by the Consulate General of France in Toronto (cultural services), and in partnership with the Film Dept., York University, the Transmedia Storytelling series seeks to establish a dialogue between France and the Toronto sector in digital innovation by studying interactive cross-platform storytelling techniques through the examples of French creatives’ works. Over the last decade, there have been dramatic changes for on-screen content as a result of the digital revolution and the emergence of new platforms. Both French and Canadian artists have experienced this evolution and developed new approaches in this field. We warmly welcome students, transmedia practitioners and the general public interested in transmedia storytelling practices to join us at these free events!

Please join us for our second exciting speaker!

Lucile Chaufour, Monday, November 26, 2:30-5:30 York University, Acolade East, rm. 004
ROSA

Rosa is a new transmedia project by Lucile Chaufour. She will focus on representations of femininity and explore the history of computing by expanding the narrative of her film on several vectors: a feature-length science fiction film, an exhibition, several websites and a series of short films...

The Indispensable Power of Story

The Indispensable Power of Story | Stories - an experience for your audience - | Scoop.it

"Some people have a way of making the complex clear.  They know who they are, why they do what they do, and where they want to go. Because they have internalized all this, they are able to sharply crystallize ideas and vision. They speak in simple, relatable terms. And they can get a lot accomplished.

Making your words understandable and inspirational isn’t about dumbing them down. Instead, it requires bringing in elements such as anecdote, mnemonic, metaphor, storytelling, and analogy in ways that connect the essence of a message with both logic and emotion. Almost everyone leading or creating has a vision, but the challenge is often expressing it in ways that relate and connect. Quick, think of some former Presidents of the United States and presidential candidates. Which ones are most memorable? Which ones are most likable? Which ones won?  The leaders who stick in your mind are likely the ones who humanize their message and deliver it in ways that connect with everyone at some level, in turn inspiring others to relate to them while better appreciating the mission at hand."

Seeds of Powerful Stories: 30 Powerful Quotes on Failure

Seeds of Powerful Stories: 30 Powerful Quotes on Failure | Stories - an experience for your audience - | Scoop.it
Whether we like it or not, failure is a necessary stepping stone to building our dreams. Here are 30 quotes that will hopefully inspire you to look at failure differently.

Karen Dietz's curator insight, April 15, 7:31 PM

What is one of the most powerful leadership/business stories you can share? Yep -- stories of failures, mistakes, and disasters.

Yet they rarely get told in our perfectionist society. Oh to admit we screwed up! Yet sharing stories of your failures humanizes you like no other story. On hearing a mistake story, every listener will say to themselves, "Whew, if he/she can admit to screwing up, so can I." or "Wow, it's not fatal if I make a mistake -- and I'll also learn something valuable in the process."

So take heart -- use these quotes to build your confidence and start sharing a few of your failure stories. They are a good shot in the arm. And thank you to author Ekaterina Walter for putting these quotes together to share with us all.

Jeff Gomez:  "More than another action-packed superhero romp, “Winter Soldier” serves as a primer in successfully structuring and steering a sprawling franchise, and stands as a warning to rival Warner Bros. and its DC superheroes that old school one-off tent pole development is becoming a thing of the past."

Clicking on the real: telling stories and engaging audiences through interactive documentaries. | Stories - an experience for your audience - | Scoop.it

"An interesting thing about contemporary media is just how much of it is factual. From journalism to social media, YouTube to reality TV we are surrounded by media that claims to be true. Often this content has a definite agenda; it wants to persuade us, make us click, join in and pass it on. How can we understand our changing relationship to factual media? And why is documentary scholarship well placed to help us do so? Kate Nash explores new interactive dimensions to documentary that may encourage wider engagement."

"The kids have no imagination!" | Stories - an experience for your audience - | Scoop.it

"The power of the spoken word hasn’t disappeared and it never will. But with the enormous forces applied by hardware, software, advertising and media corporations – to consume, consume and consume some more – kids brains are being rewired. What to? pretty simple – to consume media. Lately becoming a synonym to advertising."
