Haven't tried this, but certainly sounds like a helpful tool for your readings and presentations.

BI Media Specialists's curator insight, January 31, 9:30 AM

We have just started using a teleprompter app for our morning announcements.  It seems to get going pretty well - just a few more kinks to work out!  While we don't use this particular app, it looks to have the same options and is a free app for use in a classroom.

What works in education - John Hattie's list of the greatest effects and why it matters

What works in education - John Hattie's list of the greatest effects and why it matters | SteveB's Social Learning Scoop | Scoop.it

by Grant Wiggins

"I have been a fan of John Hattie’s work ever since I encountered Visible Learning. Hattie has done the most exhaustive meta-analysis in education. Thanks to him, we can gauge not only the relative effectiveness of almost every educational intervention under the sun but we can compare these interventions on an absolute scale of effect size.

"Perhaps most importantly, Hattie was able to identify a ‘hinge point’ (as he calls it) from exhaustively comparing everything: the effect size of .40. Anything above such an effect size has more of an impact than just a typical year of academic experience and student growth. And an effect size of 1.0 or better is equivalent to advancing the student’s achievement level by approximately a full grade."

Technology does not appear on the list. It does not mean it is not important, but it the way it is used that makes it important or not.

Mark Gillingham's curator insight, January 24, 1:52 PM

The list of effective practices should give teachers permission to try new practices that are further up the list and join a reading group to discuss Hattie's new book.

Noam Chomsky on Technology & Learning | SteveB's Social Learning Scoop | Scoop.it

As far as technology itself and education is concerned, technology is basically neutral. It’s like a hammer. The hammer doesn’t care whether you use it to build a house or whether on torture, using it to crush somebody’s skull, the hammer can do either.

Interest-based Content Curation Publishing: the cure for Content Shock?

Interest-based Content Curation Publishing: the cure for Content Shock? | SteveB's Social Learning Scoop | Scoop.it

In a recent post, top content marketer and blogger Mark Schaefer scored a hit and started a big controversy by predicting the end of content marketing as we know it because of a forecasted Content Shock. With Content Marketing having been all the rage these past few years, his post made some noise generating responses and debate from many. And while a lot of people have given numerous arguments as to why he’s right or wrong – including Shel Holtz who argues that as content consumers we become better and better at filtering content through various curation tools – nobody yet has looked at the role publishing-by-curation and the interest graph played in that picture.

Interest-based content curation to the rescue: why I feel the content shock will change content marketing but not destroy it.

What are your thoughts?

Guillaume Decugis's curator insight, January 23, 1:09 PM

In a recent debate, some have predicted the end of content marketing as we know it because of the exponential growth of content.

I disagree and I explained why in this post on the Scoop.it blog.

Where some see a problem, you can always count on others to see an opportunity.

Which side will you be on?

Therese Torris's curator insight, January 26, 4:09 PM

As I argued in http://fr.slideshare.net/ttorris/facing-contentinflationslideshow 2 years ago, I don't believe that curation reduces the content overload, but rather that it feeds it as curators multiply.

Monitoring conversations around your brand or name is very important. It does not only allow you to know your audience better, but it also helps build stronger relationships.

The Google+ Search functionality is very powerful for that particular purpose.

To help you leverage it, I have created a short tutorial on my blog. I hope you will find it useful!
