Rural areas pay the price of police cuts

Guest blog by Mike Pannett
It’s no surprise that in the recent National Rural Crime Survey nearly two-thirds of respondents thought that the police weren’t doing a good job and felt less safe as a result.
steve batchelder's insight:

I live in a small town in Warwickshire, our police station shut years ago.

The only time I see a police car is when they are passing through from one of our larger towns to another & I last saw a Police officer on the streets at last years Mop, I expect it will be this years Mop before I see another.

The loss of connection to communities will be one of the unseen consequences in this enforced withdrawal from community policing and those consequences will impact upon crime, terrorism etc in future years.
