Alcohol or 'booze' is widely used by teenagers. Binge drinking, drink driving and unsafe sex can all result from the misuse of alcohol. Alcohol is responsible for most drug-related deaths in the teenage population.
Olivia Porcheddu's insight:

This page is one of the best i have seen because it gives you a lot of statistics and loads of information. It has a lot of information with the subject of drinking and binge drinking, it tells you the risks, what parents think, statistics, drink driving, sex and alcohol, about the adolecent brain and the development of it, injurys and/or death, other drugs, parental role modeling, where to get help and many other useful topics within the subject. This page factors all the other things that we need to think about when thinking about drinking, it gives you a lot of information adn a lot to think about. i think this is the most helpful and useful when looking into the subject about underage drinking. Teenagers can gain lots of information just from this page and it is very importatint information as well.

Like Olivia said, this is seriously one of the best articles i have seen out of all the ones i have read easily. I found it extremelly insightful as it gives a bucket full of information including statistics, and alot of information on how injury/death, unwanted sex, and future heath/social problems relating to underage alcohol consumtion. It is a wonderful article for both parents/friends and the teenager themselves for information on what they are putting themselves at risk of, and i think it should be publisized more as it could be extremelly helpful and could even save a life!

Shocked mum fights underage drinking

Shocked mum fights underage drinking | stay in control by olivia | Scoop.it
Shelley McGrath knows better than most about the dangers of underage drinking.
Olivia Porcheddu's insight:

Many teenagers should read this article because they need to know that bad decisions lead to horrifying consequences and that they don’t only impact themselves but many people around them. Like in this situation by making the decisions she made she has lost trust from her mum and her mum has lost trust in both her friend’s mother and her friend. This would impact in her mum letting her go over to the friend’s house ever again. This article would also be good for scaring teenagers from drinking because of the frightful thing that happened to this mothers daughter, teenagers need to factor in that even one night of binge drinking can cause serious damage and/or even death and that the consequences don’t only impact you but your family, friends and others. From this event that happened it is good that they are giving teenagers at school more awareness and educating them more about drinking and going to parties so they can decrease the amount of horrifying situations that can lead teenagers to getting hospitalized or even death. So I think that what every teenager should get from this article is that its all fun and exiting until reality hits and one of your best friends or even you end up in severe hospitalization or worse.

Secret visits to highlight underage drinking - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) | stay in control by olivia | Scoop.it
Researchers at Deakin University say they are working with alcohol retailers in south-west Victoria to reduce the high rate of underage drinking.
Olivia Porcheddu's insight:

This is a good article because it gives you a lot of information about the percentages of 14 year olds that are driking alcohol in one state and where abouts they are more likely to get the alcohol from. This article also provides information about what they are doing about it and how they are trying to control it, this article is very good and short but very effective and informative to read.

Police investigating underage drinking party at state rep's house

Police investigating underage drinking party at state rep's house | stay in control by olivia | Scoop.it
Derry police are investigating an underage drinking party early Sunday morning at the home of Republican Rep. Frank Sapereto.
Olivia Porcheddu's insight:

I dont think that this article is very good because its not every informative and doesnt give you many facts on what happened. This article could have been better, because it only gave you the very basic information about the event and doesnt really try to convince anyone into not drinking or the major concquesnces that they may need to face. So over all i dont think is is a very good article at all.

Facebook street party turns violent Local Gold Coast News | goldcoast.com.au | Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

Facebook street party turns violent Local Gold Coast News | goldcoast.com.au | Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia | stay in control by olivia | Scoop.it
A PAIR of teenagers could face charges over a wild street party at Burleigh Heads that spiralled out of control when the address was posted on Facebook. | goldcoast.com.au
Olivia Porcheddu's insight:

This article is very informative about how dangerous parties can get. This article to me is very importaint for teenagers to read because it gives you a lot of information that its not smart to put your details on the internet becuase it will just end a disarster. This proves that todays parties and teenagers are getting out of control and are not thinking about the concequences that they will have to face just for a couple hours of fun. It is not good that neighbours dont feel safe in their own streets anymore because of massive teenage parties that turn violent and put other people in danger. It also proves that we arent doing enough to try and control these massive parties because the MP Micheal Hart did not even know that there where partys and gangs of youth drinking around the streets underage and causeing havoc. He said that they where going to start keeping a closer eye on the situation to hopefully slowly take down the major hot spots for these underage parties, so they can make the locals and neighbours feel safer and happier in their own neighbour hoods. I think that this is a very good and informative article for youth, parents and police to inform them that even know they dont know about these parties they are still going on and that they are very dangerous.

Dozens of Va. Teens Face Underage Alcohol Charges

Dozens of Va. Teens Face Underage Alcohol Charges | stay in control by olivia | Scoop.it
Arlington County police charged 43 teenagers with underage possession and consumption of alcohol Saturday night after they breaking up a large party.
Olivia Porcheddu's insight:

I think that this article is something to be wary about because it is good to know that some teenagers at the party where not peer preasured into drinking and stood their ground. It's sad to know that some teenagers at the party where being offencive to the police and cursing and throwing bottles at the officers, the teenagers at the party should have taken into perspective that all options have their conciquences and that, that night they would have lost a lot of trust from thier parents especially the girl who hosted the party without her parents knowing and while they where out of town.

This article is also good because at the end they are telling you that to prevent and inform parents and teenagers about underage drinking they are sending letters home around proms and graduations. I think its good that they are doing something to inform people about the concequences and dangers of drinking underage.

Over all i think that this article is very well set out and scares you a bit when talking about the teenagers parents and what could happen if you are drinking and attacking the police under the influence of drugs. It isnt a long article which is good so teenagers can read it and not get bored, this article is simple but effective.
