A link between the French resorts of Alpe d'Huez and Les 2 Alpes has moved a step closer.
It would create a ski area of 450+kms and be second only in size to the mighty Les 3 Vallees.
The proposal is to build a 3S lift similar to the one constructed in Whistler and more recently Avoriaz.
It would be 8 km long and would have just 8 pylons to minimize its environmental impact.
It could take up to 3,000 skiers and snowboarders per hour and the journey time would be 18 minutes.
