How Facebook bought its own hype and (almost?) missed the boat.
It is late and I am tired. This is important enough an article to grab and comment on when I have more awake brain cells. For now let's simply agree with the idea that Facebook, by positioning a game changing BI service as status quo ad sales, did chase their own tail. Sales senior staff should be shot, but you would have had to work SOMEWHERE ELSE to know the real value in the network wasn't the ad inventory but the ability to increase conversion via the BI data.
