Mommy Really Loves you A Lot | Vasilissa: Connecting to Intuition & Standing in Power | Scoop.it
Mommy really loves you a lot, except when she can't
Jacqueline Freeman's insight:

Working on my workshop around the Too-Good Mother today and ran into this.  I'd been focusing on the way the Too-Good Mother worries about everything.  All the time. And what a wing-clipper it is for her.  Love Dr. Almond's take on the ambivalence of the Too-Good Mother.  This makes Vasilissa's journey through the forest and her task of separating this from that at Baba Yaga's that much more powerful!

10 Things Highly Intuitive People Do Differently | Vasilissa: Connecting to Intuition & Standing in Power | Scoop.it
Intuition is challenging to define, despite the huge role it plays in our everyday lives. Steve Jobs called it, for instance, "more powerful than intellect." But however we put it into words, we all, well, intuitively know just what it is. ...

The work I do with Vasilissa is all about connecting to intuition-- and relationship with the body is the cornerstone to that work.

Why You Should Embrace Negative Emotions

Why You Should Embrace Negative Emotions | Vasilissa: Connecting to Intuition & Standing in Power | Scoop.it
In our relentless pursuit of happiness, it's easy to shove aside, make light of, or otherwise evade negative emotions. But the truth is that unpleasant feelings are not only inevitable, they can also play a key role in health and well-being.
Jacqueline Freeman's insight:

In the relationships with ourselves, how we handle our emotions will be mirrored back to us by how we are treated by others.  Additionally, denying/suppressing our emotions cuts us off from authenticity, intuition, and ultimately, our personal power.

Absolutely. We are often frustrated when we're doing everything we know to do but still find ourselves mired in the same unproductive patterns. Most are unaware that its not our conscious mind, but what's behind the curtain that's actually driving our life. The more self-aware we are, the more firmly we move into the driver's seat of our life.

The Mandorla

The Mandorla | Vasilissa: Connecting to Intuition & Standing in Power | Scoop.it
Jacqueline Freeman's insight:

"The Mandorla is also known as the "Vesica Piscis" ...symbolizing the interactions and interdependence of opposing worlds and forces. Although the symbol has its origins before the Christian era, the early Christians used the symbol as a method to describe the coming together of heaven and earth, between the divine and human.

The circles symbolise interacting but complementary opposites. "

Magnificent or Desirable?

Magnificent or Desirable? | Vasilissa: Connecting to Intuition & Standing in Power | Scoop.it

Jacqueline Freeman's insight:

In the tale of Vasilissa, we see the step mother and step-sisters as those that strive towards desirability, and Baba Yaga, by stark contrast, is maginificent-- and has the Dawn, Sun, and Night as her servants as a result.  What are you striving towards and is it paying or costing you?

It’s time for an end to “women’s stories”

It’s time for an end to “women’s stories” | Vasilissa: Connecting to Intuition & Standing in Power | Scoop.it
The never-ending parade of features about college hookup culture and other "women's" topics is hurting everyone
Jacqueline Freeman's insight:

I found this article and wanted to share it with the World Academy for the Future of Women members in computer lab this afternoon since we'll be working on their stories of being women tonight and tomorrow in class.  The link kept being redirected to a Baidu (Chinese google) page covered with ads for breast enhancers.  This message "You, the story says, have the opportunity to lead the life of a good woman, if only you do everything exactly right. But the women on the outside of the story, the women who were not interviewed or photographed, do not have this opportunity. They, the story  implies, are already lost." is clearly threatening to the powers that be.  So after many tries, I'm getting the article into a word document to share with my students- but only after we look for it in class so that they can see how they're being redirected to ads for breast enhancers.
