This website is for the company ETC, who are leaders in the lighting production industry.  Within the site, you can find out about all the new technologies available to lighting producers, from high-tech consoles to miniature fixtures that fit in the palm of your hand.  This is my favorite site to go to and look at all the things I wish to someday use. 

 

Pros:  Top of the line equipment used worldwide to produce top-notch shows.

Cons: Since most of the stuff ETC makes is high-end, it is very expensive.

This article gives readers a look into one communication tool used by technical crews.  The Clear-Com Tempest2400 is a wireless communication system that allows the crew of a show to effectively communicate with each other to make the run of a show go smoothly.  With it being wireless, it allows all members of the crew to move about freely, not being tied down by cables, making them much more efficient.

 

Pros: The system allows mobility and clear communication between members of the crew.

Cons: Cost, Complexity can cause someone to accidentally bump a wrong button and mess up the system.

This video shows some of the awesome things that are able to be done with the technology available today.

 

Pros:  As technology advances, we can do more incredible things with lighting that improves the overall experience.

 

Con:  Newer systems are a lot more expensive.
