Copacabana Public School

Copacabana Public School | Stage 1 Mathematics | Scoop.it
Copacabana Public School Website
Lauren's insight:
The school I was placed at for my professional experience took inspiration from the programs devised by Copacabana Public School. This site features the mathematics programs for all stages, and I took inspiration from the Early Stage One program made available here. It contains lesson ideas, a term scope and sequence as well as excellent ideas for formative and summative assessment. It also contains an extensive list of websites and resources that the school uses and therefore recommends.

Lauren's insight:

This is an amazing sight that I used on my professional experience to help me with maths lesson ideas. This website has an excellent array of IWB games/ activities that can be used on an individual or whole class level. I used them a lot with the whole class when introducing new ideas/concepts or consolidating them. It was also good to used the "games" at the end of the day when we needed to allow the students to wind down but also keep thinking along the way.

Maths - Place Value Teaching Ideas

Find free place value and number teaching ideas, activities and resources for your primary and secondary classroom.
Lauren's insight:

I was refereed to this site to get ideas for maths worksheets. I used a few ideas and combined several to then come up with a sheet that I was happy with. This is an excellent site to simply even start getting ideas for lessons, to kick start oneself in a sense. I found it important to see what was out there and then decide what I felt was good for the students to work with.

Mathletics.com.au - Love Learning - Australia's Number 1 Maths Website

hMathletics is the next generation in learning, helping students enjoy maths and improve their results. Mathletics covers Kindergarten to Year 12 curriculum

Lauren's insight:

Most schools that I have come into contact with have used this website as a steady resource in the classroom. The school I attended on my recent professional experience used this program for the students homework. The students were to complete a certain amount of "levels" or "lessons" every week as evidence that they were working beyond the classroom. The teacher would set the lessons that matched the topics that were being taught in class so as to ensure revision and alignment. The students and parents I spoke to about it stated that it was enjoyable and easy to use/navigate for both students and parents. It could also be accessed from anywhere that has an internet connection making maths always available to the students. Due to its game like setting, it was always well received by students- who enjoyed doing this as homework. So this is an excellent website to explore and use for maths homework especially.
