Speech for Stacey Bess

This is a speech that I wrote to talk about Stacey Bess

Jessica Jarsulic's insight:

The person who I think is like martin Luther king is a teacher called Stacey Bess. She was a teacher that taught homeless children and later became one of their primary advocates. She changed many children lives and these are some of the reasons why.

Stacey Bess was a teacher that revolutionized homeless children’s schooling. She started out as a young teacher looking for employment and the only place she could get employment was at an unnamed homeless shelter school. She did things like getting them new books, changing their once nameless school into a beautiful school that the children could feel proud about going to. She also fought for homeless children to be able to have food and toys to have some hope. She has taught grades kindergarten through twelfth grade and has taught more than 400 kids a year.

Stacey Bess always wanted to be a teacher she says. So when she was sent to the School with no name she was shocked. She had to teach at least 400 homeless children. At first she was upset but she has since gotten over it. She has even taken in several of her students who had nowhere else to go. Many of her older students have come back to show their appreciation for their old teacher. Many of them say that their teacher who insists that they all call her Stacey was the only thing that gave them hope in their lives. Stacey has worked for more than 6 years as the principal of the School with no name and even more as the kid’s teacher. While her life was full with a husband and at least 3 children she still made time for the kids that she taught.

Stacey Bess is a civil rights leader because she has done a tremendous amount for homeless children. She has written a book about her life in the School with no name so that others can see what she went through and take up the cause. She has given several speeches talking about how they need our help. She has often stated that the kids at the school with no name changed
