I learned in this article about the growing influence of social media on atheletes and the sports management industry as a whole. Players and teams are using twitter, facebook, and other social media to present themselves and thier brand. Information that was very interesting and educational is that there are now companies and services that will use current, trusted information to update a clients social media. The University of Michigan used this service to filter out content that would be damadging to the brand. I selected this article because social media is a growing and interesting trend in the world and it's effect on the world of sports is still to be seen. This information will help me in the sport management industry because social media is not going away. It is rapidly growing and as it does, the ability to be proficient in navigating social media is a highly important skill.
