Outdoor Retailer shows to stay in SLC through 'at least 2016' | ksl.com

Scott Swift's insight:

A good example of how an event can impact the community, as well as how that event can decide to leave the community if it is not being accomodated properly.  If Salt Lake does not figure out a way to improve facility space and size, the OR shows could move to a different city... and take millions of dollars with them.  This is part of the dilemma for sports management companies and municipality governments in deciding whether a sports arena should or shouldn't be publicly subsidized.

There are also discussions with a builder in Scottsdale, Ariz., about contstruction of an adjacent sports facility.
Scott Swift's insight:

This article gave some interesting insight on how to plan for renovations of a golf course, especially when it requires relocation of some holes and greens.  I really liked how they are planning to narrow some of the fairways in order to "cut down on irrigation, and [allow] more raw vegetation to come into play" (para. 3).  This is an interesting way to inscrease sustainability and enhance the natural beauty while also making the course more challenging, which could make it more popular.
