This is a really interesting venture.  Video games have become wildly popular over the last couple of decades since the days of Atari.  Now with the Internet, it is possible for gamers to play games against each other.  MLG.TV is a network that shows these games online for the whole world to see.  It has resulted in leagues and contests for various games including sports games.  What a great idea!

A twisted ankle or torn ACL can signal the end of a career for a college or professional athlete.  These athletes will put everything on the line for the love of the game and to be able to play in the play-offs.  Oftentimes, the athlete may be pushed too far, beyond what their body should endure.  This article skirts around the possibility of athlete's pushing themselves too far and possibly compromising their own personal ethics to stay in the game.

Robert Bornhauser's curator insight, September 20, 2015 7:27 PM

Looking back, the commentator on this was spot on. There was all this hype about Mike Sam being a gay football player, what people tend to forget is that being a good football player is what is most important when teams are deciding whether or not to keep a guy.

CD's curator insight, July 30, 3:22 PM

"If I am a general manager for an NFL team, this will prompt me to think: “Yeah, that will be interesting, all right…on another team. I’m pretty sure I can find myself another third to firth round-worthy defensive end to draft who will NOT make my team ground zero for non-sports media attention, and every personnel decision involving its one openly gay player fodder for a debate on ESPN.” Indeed, I think that any general manager who does not think this way isn’t doing his job properly."

Greening Professional Sports | Business Ethics | ETHICS IN SPORTS | Scoop.it

EarthTalk® E - The Environmental Magazine Dear EarthTalk: How eco-friendly are professional sports leagues and their teams? Which stand out especially for their green efforts?

Professional sports, like many other pursuits, are getting greener every day. While pro leagues and teams have traditionally been the last to go green, it has all changed in recent years. Maybe it’s the fact that wasting less saves money. Or that going green generates good public relations. Or that it’s just the right thing to do. Whether it’s any or all-of-the-above, professional sports certainly have never been greener.

Tyler Skovron's curator insight, December 16, 2012 11:12 PM

Thankfully, golf tends to enhance the environment, not hurt it.  Yes it may change some of the surrounding areas, perhaps influencing the wildlife living close, but it does not turn beautiful scenery into a strip mall or parking lot.  Many professional sport teams have "gone green" or have been trying to "go green" in recent years.  Once again, very thankfully, golf is very green...literally.

James Mackay's curator insight, February 18, 2015 10:15 PM

Is it part of the ethical discussion to use some of the tremendous revenue generated by sports franchises to conduct green initiatives?  Does it show good corporate citizenship?
