This comes up a lot in the medical field. It is unethical to charge someone to make money you should only charge for therapy received and need to help the patient have a successful outcome.

We talk so much about the bad part of ethical issues, I thought this would be a nice change. This shows a physical therapist making an ethical decision to go out of the way to help children that need it. This is the kind of thing that makes the whole profession proud.

This is something that occurs in all work environments, but I imagine it is more common in an area like this when you constantly have your hand on people. This is an embarrassment. This is an example of someone losing their license for violating the code of ethics for physical therapists.

For years, it has been an article of faith that Medicare would not pay for services such as skilled nursing or physical therapy unless that care improved a patient's health status.
Talisha Jewell's insight:

This is a great article that shows how ethics play a role n physical therapy. The therapist knows that the elderly person receiving care needs it not to get better but to not get worse, however when insurance won't cover it many people are left with the decision to pay up or do without. As a physical therapist you have to decide whether or not you would allow payments or a decreased rate for these special situations or if it is going to be pay or you won't be seen.
