A fantastic breakdown of how to apply proper sports ethics in today's society

Robert Ray Norris's curator insight, December 8, 2013 4:42 PM

For you as a sports trainer you have the knoldge of sports medicine and can tell the coach that the injured player has so many plays, days or even months of no activity depending on the savarity of the injury.

Stephanie Howard's curator insight, May 16, 2015 10:59 PM

As coaches, we must remember that winning isn't everything. While it is one of the main goals of competition, there are other important aspects that we must teach our athletes. These include honesty and discipline, attributes than be used in many aspects of our lives.

Steroid use can be categorized under both professional and personal ethics as far as personal use and abiding to rules and regulations prohibiting it's use.

Jamison Fausett's curator insight, February 8, 2014 11:52 AM

While I strongly disagree with the use anabolic steroids, I think the way we look at steroids as a society could be adjusted. From my own research there is many positive benefits that could come from the use of Human Growth hormone.

Kelly Joey Seay's curator insight, September 14, 2014 7:42 PM

This is a major reason I feel that ethics has went down hill due to the importance of making more money.

Richardson, A. 's curator insight, November 16, 2014 9:06 PM

Money and epic salary and endorsement deals certainly has not enhanced and increased ethics in sports.  With millions of dollars to be earned or lost due to wins, contracts and endorsement money, athletes are playing for much more than the love of the game.  In the words of Jerry Maguire, "show me the money."

Mike Falvo's curator insight, January 19, 2015 4:29 AM

I don't think it has COMPLETELY ruined ethics in sports, but it is definitely a driving force in the decisions made on and off the "field" of sport.

This is why poeple think so poorly about sports trainers. Trainers that do this type of stuff is what gives sports medicine a bad name. Coaches that allow these events to take place should  not be allowed to coach or even teach.

"Laughable?" a bit derogatory isn't it?  How about something along the lines of, "We are unclear as to where these allegations came from, we don't coach in the manner he described, but we are eager to get to the bottom of this as fast and as civilized as possible."

Josh Laker's curator insight, May 11, 2014 12:14 PM
