If this is in fact accurater, the coach was in the wrong. Is it possible there has now become an over-reaction atmoshpehre, especially in a place with still raw nerves from the basketball incident last year?

Pablo Nunez's curator insight, November 17, 2013 2:01 PM

At all levels of sport is imperative that we remember the Sports Code of ethics one chose to uphold and the responsibility we each have to treat everyone fairly and equally.

I was at a high school football game a few years ago where events gave rise to interesting questions regarding coaching ethics. Here is what happened: The visiting team was clearly superior in every way.

This is a major reason I feel that ethics has went down hill due to the importance of making more money.

Richardson, A. 's curator insight, November 16, 2014 9:06 PM

Money and epic salary and endorsement deals certainly has not enhanced and increased ethics in sports.  With millions of dollars to be earned or lost due to wins, contracts and endorsement money, athletes are playing for much more than the love of the game.  In the words of Jerry Maguire, "show me the money."

Mike Falvo's curator insight, January 19, 2015 4:29 AM

I don't think it has COMPLETELY ruined ethics in sports, but it is definitely a driving force in the decisions made on and off the "field" of sport.

Coaches have to understand, in order to change the way things were done we have to change the way we do things. Developing our youth early on will help us grow "better athletes and better people."

Can you please do your job!

Renee Seruntine's curator insight, May 15, 2014 2:19 PM

An athletic director was fired for not displaying ethical values in the handling of money transactions.  He was wrongfully taking money for himself and not paying others for work they had done.  The workplace does not tolerate those without ethics.
