Workout Wednesday: Lagat, Chelanga, Sambu and Abdirahman 400m Repeats | Sports Activities | Scoop.it
We traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona to catch Bernard Lagat, Sam Chelanga, Abdi Abdirahman and Stephen Sambu get after 400m repeats at 7,000ft. Lagat and Chelanga will compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic track team in July, while Sambu will attempt to make the Kenyan team in the 10,000m and make his marathon debut this fall in Chicago. 

THE WORKOUT
Lagat/Chelanga: 2 sets of 4x400m (w/100m jog rest ~45 seconds and 3 min in between sets)
Abdirahman/Sambu: 6x400m at 65 seconds (w/100m jog rest ~45 seconds)

Foot landing in running, obviously is a major factor of health / injury for the runner. But it has two factors that are equally important. Vertical and horizontal deceleration. It would be more useful if this study presented details about each one of these two factors. Also it would be useful if there were some figures regarding vertical and horizontal "G"s.
