1. Through this article I learned that there is currently an app that is in the making that will connect the fans at the game and the fans that are watching the game from the luxury of their own houses. The app is called Fandium and the creators of the app hope that the app will be a way to make the fans that are watching the game from home feel like they are right there at the stadium experiencing the same things that those fans are. “Fandium aims to be the social destination for sports fans to get the real story from inside and around the stadium with aggregated, fan-generated content to create the ultimate game-day experience (Forbes.com).” Another interesting feature of this app is that it has “Ureport” which is a feature that allows the fan to feel like a reporter. Ureport allows the fan to post their insight on certain things that are taking place in the game and they can also post their own pictures. The app also contains play-by-play action, scores, and player stats so the user never has to leave the app to find these certain things.
2. One thing that I found interesting about this article is that is said that users can earn “fan cash” and points for the different things that they post on the Ureport. However, the fan cash doesn’t have any real value and cannot be used to purchase things. One thing that the creators of Fandium hope is that they will eventually be able to provide rewards to the users with a lot of fan cash or who have accumulated a certain amount of points. The creators hope to share with the stadiums their app to show them they can keep track of what the fans are doing while at the event. This will help because the stadium will be able to know what the consumers are doing/ buying after purchasing the tickets and entering the stadium. The creators hope that this will help them in being able to reward those users with high points and a lot of fan cash, because they hope that the stadiums will give these fans team merchandise as prizes (t-shirts, foam fingers, pictures, etc.).
3. I selected this article because I find it interesting how many sport companies are doing things through social media to attract consumers. Since the social media industry is booming now a days, using it to get your product or brand into the market is a very smart idea that all companies, not just sport companies, are doing. With the enhances in technology, reaching out to consumers through social media is a fast and effective way to be sure you are getting your company name and brand out to the target market.
4. This information will help me in the sports management industry because I will know that a good and effective way to reach certain consumers will be through social media. The creation of new apps will also help certain sporting companies reach certain consumers. All of this will help me be successful in this industry because reaching out to consumers to buy your product or use your facility is very important in making it in this business.

1. Throughout this article I learned that there are certain facilities and clinics that are offered to athletes, specifically football players, which help them train in order to be drafted to the NFL. In this article the specific facility that they are focusing on is the Athletes’ Performance training facility. This training facility has sites in Florida, Arizona, California, Texas, and North Carolina. Athletes’ Performance has a plan to increase its offerings to the program by joining with the Mayo Clinic. The Mayo Clinic provides access to the most advanced diagnostic and treatment programs, world class performance solutions and injury prevention training. By combining with the Mayo Clinic, Athletes’ Performance will become an even more enticing than it already is. However the athletes won’t have to use the programs set forth by the Mayo Clinic, they will just be there for support in case an athlete wants to keep their chances of injuries low and work at fixing the injuries they already have.
2. What I found interesting is that the services provided by the Mayo Clinic are altered and designed specifically for an individual athlete. No same athlete, unless suffering from the same injury, will have to the same service. This is interesting because it shows that the people from the clinic really care and are interested in helping to make sure the athlete’s illness or injury gets better as fast as possible so they can be back on the field in no time.
3. I chose this article because I found it interesting that now a day you find more and more companies working together to help each other get services and products out into the market to gain the attention of consumers. You would think that companies would be hesitant to combine with competition because in the business field, normally competitors are trying to run you out of business instead of helping you get your name or idea out into the market.
4. This information will help me in the sports management industry because in this industry it isn’t just about selling a product or idea, it is essentially about all things related to sports. This includes medical care and training facilities. When it comes to making sure that the team or individual player you are working with is doing well, you first need to make sure that they are healthy and able to put their best effort forward.

1. In this article I learned that sometimes in the sports manufacturing business combining with or working with other top companies can be beneficial to both companies. This article talks about how Bauer, a leading hockey and lacrosse merchandise company, is going to be acquiring the assets of Combat Sports, which is a company that is known for supplying composite and hybrid composite products for its own company and other high-end companies. Bauer announced that they entered a definitive agreement to acquire essentially all of the assets of through another business developer and manufacturer of sporting goods (Combat Sports). This will benefit both companies because it will help each company to sell more sporting goods through the other company.
2. The information in this article that I found interesting was that by Bauer and Combat Sports working together to sell and manufacture their sporting goods, Bauer will be able to expand their hockey and lacrosse departments as well as gaining new components to its offering. These new components are in forms of baseball and softball bats, which are leading manufactured goods from Combat Sports. Also by the companies working together, Bauer hopes to expand their portfolio of products and help them build their brand.
3. I selected this article because when it comes to buying certain sporting good products, the company you purchase it from normally plays a big role in deciding which product you buy. My family has purchased products from both companies and personally I was impressed with both. My family is also a big baseball and softball company so I am curious to see how well the bats will do in the market and how consumers will react to them.
4. This information will help me in the sports management industry because it has taught me that when it comes to sporting goods manufacturing it doesn’t hurt to work with other companies to help build your brand and get your product out into the market. Manufacturing in sport is a major aspect of the sports management industry because essentially everything you do you are trying to attract the consumers to buy your product or idea.
