Hip-hop sensibility fuels new L.A. Kings line - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal | SportsBusiness Daily Global | Sport Management 3 | Scoop.it
Mister Cartoon, a canvas and tattoo artist, has designed for Nike and Vans, but never for a pro or college sports team.
Zach Bassett's insight:

The Kings began selling a line of apparel that ultimately will include caps, T-shirts and hoodies with Cartoon’s reimagining of the team’s logo. Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick is expected to wear a Cartoon-designed goalie helmet later in the season. This article shows how organizations change their organizational stratagies from their original market penetration which was originally an older crowd trying to sell tickets and moving to diversification and now using a new product such as the clothing line to target a younger customer.

NFL: We have final say in L.A. - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal | SportsBusiness Daily Global | Sport Management 3 | Scoop.it
The NFL has reiterated to its 32 clubs that Los Angeles is the league’s market and that any franchise seeking to negotiate its own stadium deal in the city could threaten the best economic result for the sport, according to team and other sources...
Zach Bassett's insight:

The NFL is trying to prevent any team from purchasing land to build a stadium in Los Angeles. The NFL states that if the teams go off on thier own to make the move to LA it could jeoperdize the state of the NFL and could cause problems for the team. It is important to the NFL because it could effect how the entire league runs. It is important to the teams and owners that are considering moving there because of the vast markets it would attract. I chose this because in my future I am looking to work with an NFL team. It is interesting to learn how much goes into moving a team or creating a stadium and how much it actually effects.

With rebound, WNBA solidifies spot at ESPN - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal | SportsBusiness Daily Global | Sport Management 3 | Scoop.it
Would you believe the WNBA’s regular season averaged more national TV viewers for each game than MLS this year? It’s true.
Zach Bassett's insight:

The WNBA secures its spot with ESPN. After having record low numbers in 2012 the Womens National Basketball Association brought its veiws in the regular season to about 231,000, and 344,000 in the finals. It has recieved more views that some of the top sports such as, the NCAA frozen four, MLS, Indy Car racing, and U.S open series. I chose this because it relates to the topic of SEPTC and shows the use of the S and C which is social and Competition. The network will go with the league that is putting up the best numbers and how often the viewers fluctuate and who is competing for certain positions.
