EA Sports Will Not Release College Football Game In 2014

EA Sports Will Not Release College Football Game In 2014 | Sport Management 2 | Scoop.it
EA Sports' fan-favorite NCAA football title will not be released in 2014, and its longterm future is in jeopardy.
Zach Bassett's insight:

I have learned that EA sports will not release the next version of NCAA football. I found it interesting that they are doing this due to being questioned and certain lawsuits filled by teams and players. An organization such as the NCAA is over powering thanks to its fan base and ability to create a profit without having to pay so many of their employees. I chose this because of my interest in the NCAA, the video game and the reasoning behind the lawsuits. I have learned that there are so many loop holes with the rules behind the NCAA the users of the titles and the rules that the players must follow. For most part this article has to do with the ethics behind the EA sports use of the NCAA's player rights.

NFL Strikes Large-Scale Deal With Twitter To Share Highlights, Other Material - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal | SportsBusiness Daily Global | Sport Management 2 | Scoop.it

Zach Bassett's insight:

The NFL and Twitter are joining together to help market one another. Twitter will post things such as game scores fantasy updates and more. It will not only be advertising for twitter to be promoted by the NFL but same for the NFL being advertised by twitter. I find it interesting to see how much more powerful sponsors can be when two organizations collide. I selected because I am fans of both organizations and interested in working in one of the fields. It is helpful to understand that markets can collide such as a sports industry and media and both can benefit.

Monumental Set To Become First Third-Party Outfit To Stream MLS Game - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal | SportsBusiness Daily Global | Sport Management 2 | Scoop.it
Monumental Sports & Entertainment's online broadcast of the DC United-Toronto FC match on Saturday will mark the first time a third-party network has streamed an MLS regular-season game.
Zach Bassett's insight:

A large push to start airing major league soccer to stream the games. I learned that the steps to start streaming something strongly relies on the amount of viewers. I found it interesting that they discussed certain ways to try to target viewers, such as showing rival teams or focusing on the quality of the streaming. I selected this article because it explains why they are starting of slow and working to produce more and larger viewings which are valuable in the sport management industry. I learned that it is a big jump for both organizations. The DC network is up for a big undertaking and the MLS is really pushing to start streaming more but gave up some of its video rights.
