Apparently mobile developments for healthcare is not meeting expectations. The reason for this = an avoidance of overall user experience design methodologies.   The solution?  According to says Brian Kalis (Accenture) "Moving to a human-centered approach will help hospitals understand what the mobile experience should be in terms of how patients interact in mobile and what they want,”

If you've seen fewer experimental data visualizations lately, it's only because the medium has grown up and gotten a job.
Juliana Loh's insight:

From 2007-2012 infographics trended in companies feeling the pressure to drive traffic to their 'stories' using big data generated information. Visual Data Designers and Information Scientists were well paid and and in high demand until changes in technology changed the landscape. Why did this shift occur?

According to renowned data designer Jer Thorp  (my former instructor) several factors caused this turnaround:

1. ease of use wrt data software, accessibility of data visualization software and lowered cost made it easy for corporations to hire designers in house.

2. A move from desktop computers to mobile created a different expectation.

Disney Legend Glen Keane demonstrates the power of VR by drawing his most-famous characters in 3D using an app called Tilt Brush.

I just *have* to talk about HTC Vive's powerful project Tilt Brush. It is a VR 'canvas' for artists which means that artists can literally don the gear and create masterpieces in pure space. When I first tried it, I created a horse using 4 brush strokes. Soon after this, I realized that I didn't have to 'draw' the figure but instead was able to 'sculpt' the object using 3d methods I had learned as a sculptor plus use layering techniques present in cake making. In a very short time, i was able to create a flower in the same way glass is blown. Glen Keane, one of my favourite artists was invited to play with the program. This article truly epitomizes the joy most creatives feel when they first try out VR.

I actually thought this was common sense.... never leave a screen empty. In terms of storytelling, if you assume the role of sidekick... the person responsible for helping your hero determine what to do next/where to do... this is something that might come naturally to you. You are the character that informs your user what is 'suppose' to happen or where that person is even though s/he might enter 'empty' rooms. In terms of ux, adding more info regarding screens helps make efficient the on-boarding process.
