The Best Yoga Position

The Best Yoga Position | Spiritual | Scoop.it
Yoga has simple and effective body movements that strengthen your body, redistribute body weight and most of all inspire peace of mind. Yoga movements stretch and tone the body. They increase endurance and improve flexibility.
Yoga Asanas or positions are the best among all techniques for toning muscles, lubricating joints and massaging the body. These Yoga postures bring physical as well as mental stability, health and vigor. Developed thousands of years ago and have evolved over centuries, they work wonders in keeping the body healthy and the mind peaceful. Although asanas are very powerful, the effect becomes dramatic when they are done the right way. The mind must be in harmony with the body movements. For this it is essential to equip yourself with the other tools of Integral Yoga.
The aspect of Yoga that most people are aware of is "Hatha Yoga" or the Yoga of Postures. Developing a strong, healthy and flexible body is but one aspect of this ancient science. Yogis revere the body. However, they do this because they realize that a weak and tired body is a obstacle towards spiritual progress. By being mindful of your breathing while they practice the various postures, you train yourself to discipline your mind. By disciplining your mind, you are able to live up to the principles that Yoga stands for.
First amongst these principles is "Ahimsa", or peacefulness in thought, deed, and action not only to other human beings, but also to all living beings, most importantly to our own selves. Remember this when you tend to push yourself into a forward bend! You will be able to do it over a period of time, just be easy on yourself.
Anyone can practice Yoga. You don't need any special equipment, clothing, or lessons; all you need is the will to pursue a healthier and happier lifestyle. There are loads of free yoga information videos to guide you through your own personal practice of Yoga.
The Yoga Postures and Asanas exercise every part of your body. The stretching involved helps in toning your muscles and joints, including your spine and your entire Skeletal System. Yoga not only facilitates in improving your body but also aids in keeping your Glands, Nerves and your other internal organs in radiant health.
So, the title of this article may have been a bit deceiving, I know... "The truth is that yoga is more than physical forms, poses and positions. In fact yoga is more about the mind than then anything else. As much as I would personally love to know the one physical position that will provide all the benefits of yoga it’s not possible. The body is so completed that it requires movement through many forms to optimize complete well-being. The best position is the mental state of mind you achieve when you are very peaceful and calm while doing yoga. With a good mental position comes the best result in your practice of yoga.

Commute Your Way To Success

Commute Your Way To Success | Spiritual | Scoop.it

When you commute to work what do you do? While you drive your car do you listen to the news, a music station or the traffic report? While you ride the train or bus do you just throw on your earphones and blast your iPod?
There is so much time spent commuting, are you spending that time wisely? Two commutes a day, ten a week, forty a month, about 440 times a year. If you commute 45 minutes to work, that is ninety minutes a day, 1,650 hours a year!
That's so much time when you think about it, right? While, you remember those goals you’ve been meaning to achieve?
Why not use this time wisely to work on those goals? How you use this time is as endless as your imagination but to help you out I'll give you a few examples in this article. When you use your commuting time to benefit yourselves and make accomplishments, it not only will benefit you personally, but you will see positive impacts at work, home and play!
You can be using the time to organize your day at work. This will help you to be more productive at work and less time will be spent away from home and play.
You know that achieving those goals you have been putting off means they will no longer seem like clouds hanging over you. You will be free mentally, emotionally and physically.
Commute Your Way To Success
If you want to start a business the commute is a great time to read books on the topic if your ride the train or bus. If you drive audio books are the way to go. If you never have time to write, bring a audio recorder and dictate your ideas in your car. Think about all those moments throughout your daily routine where you can incorporate some creative ways to be productive. Why not take the time to enrich your life?
The commute is also a great time to create your to-do list for the day or review how the day went. Whatever you choose to do, getting value out of the commute helps to change your attitude about the commute and even where you are commuting to. That job seems a whole lot better when you've started your day productively. It relaxes you throughout the time because you are focused on something more interesting than counting the minutes or the traffic jams. So now, instead of it being a major pain in the butt the commute is actually an opportunity to advance your life.
Think of ten to twenty activities that you can do during your commute and get started. This way if you don’t feel like doing one, you have another ready to go, even if it’s just as simple as listening to your favorite motivational speaker because you won’t always want to read a book. You can listen to meditation music while you write a book. You can compose a letter or song in your head. Now instead of the commute being about getting to work make it about getting work done.

What Is Meditation? Sometimes It’s About Failure!

What Is Meditation? Sometimes It’s About Failure! | Spiritual | Scoop.it

Jerome Stone addresses one of the most common aversions to meditation -- that often we feel like failures when our minds are behaving like runaway monkeys, and we believe there should be no thought. This is a misunderstanding, as much of meditation is learning about our minds, no matter what they are doing. Excellent article!

Shane Davis's curator insight, March 10, 2013 1:34 AM

One key to effective meditation is to no thave any expectations of an outcome. That would be like saying if this day doesnt result in this or that I will be disappointed and consider it a bad day. Letting go of expectations actually can help you to attain a lot of waht we meditate for anyways. Believe me... this is easier said than done. But it gets easier with repitition.
