Pride Parade {free hat knitting pattern}

Pride Parade {free hat knitting pattern} | Spinning, Weaving and Knitting | Scoop.it
I grew up in a small town not really knowing any gay people or maybe I did
but I didn't know it. When I got my first real job I made friends and I
liked who I liked. I didn't know that my boss was gay and I really didn't
care. She was great at her job and taught me a lot about design. After
weeks on the job I asked a passing question about her "husband" and all of
my coworkers had a good belly-laugh at my expense.

That moment was a pivotal learning experience in my life about how I live
and love. I learned that I really, deep-down, don't care if you live your
life differently than I do; if I like you, I like you and that's that.
Everyone is different and they are taking a path through life just like I
am. I want everyone to have the same opportunities to enjoy each day and
that's why I designed this hat. We are all equal. It's that simple. So this
is a simple hat with stripes. I sized it from baby to adult so you can make
one for anyone and everyone you love.

Pride Parade Hat

Ewe Ewe Yarns Pattern #133
Designed by Heather Walpole

Sizes: Baby (Kid, Adult Small, Adult Large)

22, 24)" head size; 4¾ (5½, 6½, 7½)" high.

Yarn: Ewe Ewe Yarns, Wooly Worsted, 95 yards to 50g.

Note: Yarn amounts are based on the weight of Ewe Ewe Wooly Worsted yarn
and may vary with other yarns. Amount shown is to create the largest size
hat.

Needles: US 8 (5 mm) 16" circular knitting needles; US 8 (5 mm)
double-pointed knitting needles.

Supplies: Stitch marker, yarn needle.

Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows to 4" stockinette stitch.

Pattern:

With Color A, cast on 68 (76, 84, 92) sts, place marker and join in the
round being careful not to twist cast on sts.

Round 1: *K2, P2; rep from * around.
Work as for Round 1 for 4 (5, 6, 7) rounds total.

Next round: Knit.
Change to Color B and knit 5 (6, 7, 8) rounds.
Change to Color C and knit 5 (6, 7, 8) rounds.

Change to Color E and knit 5 (6, 7, 8) rounds.
Change to Color F and knit 3 (4, 5, 6) rounds.

Decrease as follows changing to double-pointed needles as needed to prevent
stretching the fabric.

Round 2: Knit around.
Round 3: *K1, k2tog; rep from * around. 34 (38, 42, 46) sts.

using steam or wet-blocking to set the stitches. Love!
