Speechbox is an app that was designed by the father of a child with Apraxia. He wanted to design a simple but effective app for teachers, therapists and parents to use to practice words with their kids. It is available for the iPad in the App store for kids ages 4 and up.
What is it all about?
The difference between SpeechBox and a lot of speech apps is its ease of operation. Which means as soon as you open the app you can get straight to work with out a lot of instruction. There are no complex menus to navigate through before being presented with the pictures. You simply tap on a box, and it displays it’s contents. You can choose what type of sounds to work on beginning, middle or ending. The pictures are colorful and engaging. The photo controls are similar to the controls in the iPad’s own photo app. The app comes with 700 pre-loaded pictures to practice.
