Aunque el avance del uso del idioma español es evidente a nivel nacional, el hablarlo en El Paso no hace más competitivo a los profesionales que buscan obtener mejores puestos e ingresos, y por tanto emigran a otras latitudes.

Datos de la Oficina del Censo del 2013 confirman que el 81 por ciento de los habitantes del Condado de El Paso son de origen hispano, y que el 73 por ciento de la población mayor de 5 años habla otro idioma diferente al inglés en sus hogares. Sin embargo, las oportunidades de un buen salario no van de la mano a esta tendencia, de acuerdo con investigaciones académicas y testimonios recabados por este medio.
