SIMI VALLEY, Calif. -- Residents in Simi Valley are in shock after the arrest of an elementary school teacher. Malia Brooks, 32,  surrendered at a police station in California on Tuesday after it was alleged that she had been having sexual relations with a male student at her school.

malek's insight:

Even in the movie "Bad Teacher" she only had sex with other teachers.

I really don't understand how you can look at a minor and think "wow I wanna have sex" They are still kids. These women should spend some quality time in prison.

Turns Out Women Have Really, Really Strong Sex Drives: Can Men Handle It?

Turns Out Women Have Really, Really Strong Sex Drives: Can Men Handle It? | Soup for thought | Scoop.it
Women want sex far more than we've been allowed to believe. So suggests a new book that shatters many of our most cherished myths about desire, including the widespread assumption that women's lust is inextricably bound up with emotional connection. Are men ready to cope with the reality of heterosexual women's horniness? The evidence suggests we aren't, at least not yet.
malek's insight:

Everyone's being kind of wishy-washy... Women want sex, but they don't want to be seen as forward (or worse, desperate). Men want sex but are intimidated, unconfident, or don't want to be seen as domineering. We're not sure who should be the sexual instigators, and then no one really steps up to the plate.

Stop Smiling At Work ASAP: Cheerful Women Are Considered Less 'Professional' | Soup for thought | Scoop.it

The secret to a successful woman may be a proud but serious demeanor.

New research from Germany's Technische Universitat Munchen suggested that cheerful women are seen as less willing to assume a leadership role than their male counterparts.

Women seeking higher positions in a company are expected to demonstrate excellent negotiation skills, networking capabilities and the ability to develop a strategic career ladder. However, economic researchers found that these attributes aren't always enough.

malek's insight:

So if I'm cheerful and friendly, I'm incompetent, but if I'm not cheerful, I'm cold and mean? Women can't win, can they?

France Language Police After English Words

France Language Police After English Words | Soup for thought | Scoop.it
The French language police have long been fighting an uphill battle to stem the invasion of English words into the language of Moliere.

Nevertheless a team of people at the Minister of Culture in Paris are keeping up the fight. They are charged with finding French alternatives to any new English word of phrase that rears its head in French

malek's insight:

Beach"- The French love their beaches and but if anyone wants to play Beach volleyball or Beach football or even Beach cricket god forbid, then they will be rubbing the language police up the wrong way. From now the Ministry of Culture wants "Beach" to be translated to "sur sable" so in French playing "cricket sur sable" or "volley sur sable" will only be allowed in future.
