Pedro the Lion was an indie rock band from Seattle, Washington. Singer-songwriter David Bazan formed the band in 1995 and represented its main creative force, backed by a varying rotation of collaborating musicians.
BANDS ON THE RISE: Django Django. The band released their eponymous debut album in January 2012, combining 80s pop rhythms with 60s Beach Boys-style vocal harmonies, a style that some, rightly or wrongly, have labelled folktronica.

NEW VIDEO: The 16th and final entry in Sigur Rós’ Valtari Mystery Film Experiment includes a few familiar faces and songs. Directed by Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways), “Leaning Towards Solace” incorporates two tracks from the Icelandic band’s most recent album, “Dauðalogn” and “Varúð,” as well as big screen talent in John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone) and Elle Fanning (Somewhere).

NEW MUSIC: Ben Gibbard is an American musician and songwriter who has formed several indie bands. He is most notable as the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie; his other projects include The Postal Service and All-Time Quarterback. He has also created music under his name and under the band Pinwheel.
UNDER THE RADAR: DIIV (previously known as Dive - named after the Nirvana song) is the ongoing project of Zachary Cole Smith, who has already made a name for himself in the New York music scene playing for bands such as Beach Fossils, Darwin Deez and Soft Black. Smith formed DIIV in Brooklyn in 2011 as his solo project, but soon put together a live band with Devin Ruben Perez, his childhood friend Andrew Bailey, and ex-Smith Westerns drummer Colby Hewitt.
UNDER THE RADAR: The Atelier are a six member band based in the West of London. Originally, all six members were session musicians in their own right. Brought together over the summer of 2011 by drummer Thomas Carli-Jarlier and vocalist Vasilisa Ilicheva, the band are best described as a jazzy-rocky- funky-pop meddle...and it works.
BANDS TO CHECK OUT: Vensaire is a five piece based out of Brooklyn, New York. The band looks to explore their thematic ideas through traditional world folk melodies along with modern musical elements such as sampling, and synthesizing.

UNDER THE RADAR: Sounding like a combination of The Strokes from NYC and Glasgow's beloved Orange Juice either one of which should be enough cool for any occasion, the Deadline Shakes follows in the fine tradition of Glasgow guitar pop.
