THIS IS OUR MUSIC: Bjork- “Big Time Sensuality”.

THIS IS OUR MUSIC: Bjork- “Big Time Sensuality”.

Big Time Sensuality was the final single released from Bjork’s first solo album, Debut.

The album version of “Big Time Sensuality” is a poppy, bouncy dance cut, but the remix is a fantastic, dizzying, techno-fied take on the song that wound up becoming the version featured in the song’s video, although the video version was longer.

THIS IS OUR MUSIC: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – “Fifteen Feet Of Pure White Snow”.

THIS IS OUR MUSIC: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – “Fifteen Feet Of Pure White Snow”.

Song from No More Shall We Part, the eleventh studio album by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, released on April 2001. The album came after a 4-year gap from recording, following the much acclaimed album The Boatman’s Call.

Cave had to overcome heavy heroin and alcohol addictions in 1999-2000 before starting work on the album.

The album showcases the virtuoso talents of the Bad Seeds, with elaborate instrumental sections on nearly every track. Also, Cave’s lyrics are less obscure than usual, and he sings in a wider vocal range than he had previously.

UNDER THE RADAR: Teleman – “Skeleton Dance”.

UNDER THE RADAR: Teleman – “Skeleton Dance”.

Their excellent debut album titled Breakfast (2014), was produced by former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler.

Their video for “Skeleton Dance,” is influenced by Oskar Schlemmer of the Bauhaus School.

In “Skeleton Key,” the synth-tinged quartet play with scale, color, movement, and inanimate objects, like citrus fruits and succulent plants. “The video was conceived as a non-narrative, collage-based collection of fun elements and colors,” the band’s Jonny and Tom Sanders told us. “We started with Bauhaus Theatre Mask designs by Oskar Schlemmer, which to our knowledge have never actually been physically made before now. Then we rotated succulents and fruit on a turntable. We combined this with some basic Bhangra dance moves. All the rest was just having fun in the edit.

UNDER THE RADAR: The Telescopes – “Flying”.

UNDER THE RADAR: The Telescopes – “Flying”.

Telescopes’ video for Flying from “Highr ‘N’ Higher” (or the self-titled lp) on Creation Records, 1992.

Dream pop cult icons the Telescopes formed in Burton-upon-Trent, England, in 1986.

The Telescopes began as a run-of-the-mill British shoegazer band fully under the thrall of noise and My Bloody Valentine. Perhaps a little angrier than most of that ilk but pretty unmemorable. At some point however they discovered subtlety and songcraft. They traded in most of their noise pedals for some that make the guitars go all spacey and phased-out.
