Use These Automation Hacks to Be a More Productive Introvert

Use These Automation Hacks to Be a More Productive Introvert | software dev | Scoop.it

Running a business takes a lot of hard work and, usually, a lot of interaction with other people. For the introverts in the room, communicating with others on a daily basis can make a busy workday downright exhausting. Between sending emails, making phone calls, and communicating with customers and co-workers face-to-face, there's a lot of human interaction to be done throughout the day.

Fortunately, there are ways you can automate your workday to minimize the number of times you have to directly connect with other people. Sure, you need to interact with your co-workers from time to time, but why stress out over low-priority interactions when you can essentially put them on autopilot?

Not only will automation save you mental energy, it will also save time.

The time that you spare yourself from meetings or phone calls can in turn be used in a more productive manner.

Here are three simple ways you can start automating and become a more productive introvert.

How to Use Financial Early Warning Indicators to Understand Competitor KPIs - webinar Aug 17 | software dev | Scoop.it
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) can be a valuable series of insights to analyze when examining the behaviors of your competitive set. As KPIs are excellent early warning indicators of a company’s ability to compete, these methods of understanding an organization’s forward-looking abilities as well as potential vulnerabilities are an excellent source of insights that can drive deeper understanding of those competitors.

Takudzwa Kunaka's insight:
Google has tried reworking Google TV into Android TV, but we're still not seeing the platform embedded in many more new TVs that were announced at launch. Now, according to a report from Variety, the company could try convincing manufacturers to build Chromecast-like receiving directly into TV sets. The first rumored partner is Vizio, which could be looking for a new edge in smart TVs with Yahoo shutting down its platform, and the possibility of an Android tablet remote. Vizio tried building its own Android tablet before, but packing one in with each new TV would be a step further.  Users have asked for a lighter (or non-existent) smart TV experience, and switching to casting with smarts offloaded to a tablet, or phone, might be the best way to do that. Android TVs already support casting, but including the functionality of the popular dongle in brand news TVs should get the tech in front of more people. As long as that means more WiFi-connected TVs, then for Vizio that means more opportunities to monitor viewing with its InScape technology.

As the business world now operates in a highly digitalised space, a business cannot effectively operate, without having access to a slew of technology. It is no longer possible for a business owner to be across all aspects of the technology and technical solutions one now needs to operate a business. It is very important that as a business owner you develop a clear understanding of the key technical terms that you will commonly encounter, and this article will make that understanding possible. 162 Future Jobs: Preparing for Jobs that Don’t Yet Exist

162 Future Jobs: Preparing for Jobs that Don’t Yet Exist | software dev | Scoop.it

A recent article in The Economist quotes Bill Gates as saying at least a dozen job types will be taken over by robots and automation in the next two decades, and these jobs cover both high-paying and low-skilled workers. Some of the positions he mentioned were commercial pilots, legal work, technical writing, telemarketers, accountants, retail workers, and real estate sales agents.

Indeed, as I’ve predicted before, by 2030 over 2 billion jobs will disappear. Again, this is not a doom and gloom prediction, rather a wakeup call for the world.

A Quick Guide to Using Diigo with Your Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

A Quick Guide to Using Diigo with Your Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | software dev | Scoop.it

February 27, 2014
Social bookmarking is an online phenomenon that has seen the light in the last few years particularly with the outburst of web 2.0 technologies or what author Will Richardson calls the read/write web. To put it simply, a social bookmarking service is a web tool that allows you to not only bookmark web documents (as traditional bookmarking did) but also to annotate, edit, tag and share them with others. Social bookmarking can also be a collaborative endeavour in which a group of users share links with the same tags.

3 Scientifically Proven Ways to Optimize Your Brain

3 Scientifically Proven Ways to Optimize Your Brain | software dev | Scoop.it

The co-founders of Aditazz, which uses software to design and construct hospitals and other specialized buildings, were beyond frustrated. Zigmund Rubel, an architect, wanted to design buildings in one direction, either from the outside in or from the inside out, depending on the project. Deepak Aatresh, the CEO and an electrical and computer science engineer, was interested in simultaneous outside-in, inside-out design aided by computation.

It was one of many seemingly irresolvable conflicts. "We knew we were well-intentioned, very smart, accomplished people, but it was hard to make forward progress," Aatresh says.

This type of clash is familiar to neuroscience expert Ajit Singh, a partner at VC Artiman Ventures and member of the Aditazz board of directors; it has its roots in the brain. Innovation comes from combining disciplines, but people in different disciplines don't think the same way. The idea that the right brain hemisphere controls creativity and the left logic has been debunked. But research shows that the left brain is more responsible for language, whereas the right takes care of spatial processing and attention. "People don't select professions," Singh explains. "Professions select people."

Unlocking the Internet of Things

Unlocking the Internet of Things | software dev | Scoop.it

Storms of new data are growing bigger by the day, flowing in from social media, new internal corporate processes, retail and market transactions, electronic sensors and other machines. Especially machines.

The masses of new data follow technology innovation and by 2020 industry analysts predict there will be up to 30 billion devices connected to the Internet with unique IP addresses. This compares with 2009, when were a ‘mere’ 2.5 billion connected devices.

But what are we meant to do with the Things of the Internet? The amounts of data being created are so large that they are measured in quintillions of bytes – 2.5 quintillion bytes of new data are created every day.
