Its easy to start but difficult to sustain. An excellent article systematically explaining the ways to make the ipad program successful in the school.

Bryan Wiedeman's curator insight, October 11, 2:24 AM

This is a fantastic article about iPad use in schools. While it only discusses the use of iPads it talks about a lot of issues related to implementation. A few of my favorite points include developing simple iPad management strategies which I feel is often overlooked. Also Overcoming "There's an app for that" Syndrome which is often hard for teachers to come to terms with when they first start using tablets in classrooms. This article is perfect for a school that has already developed a plan for BYOD implementation and then needs to examine it in more detail to make sure it covers all angles.

This infographic is great for showing how basic an infographic may be, and to help students understand what goes into creating a graph. The four key concepts, collecting data, sorting data, arranging data and presenting the data visually (so others may understand it) are true when students learn how to make graphs...and most students have played with Legos at some point so there is a quick connection. To see the full infographic click through to Visual.ly.

"Infographics are interesting–a mash of (hopefully) easily-consumed visuals (so, symbols, shapes, and images) and added relevant character-based data (so, numbers, words, and brief sentences).

The learning application for them is clear, with many academic standards–including the Common Core standards–requiring teachers to use a variety of media forms, charts, and other data for both information reading as well as general fluency."

Mike Gorman returns with 125 ways to use Word Clouds in your classroom. Although focused on Wordle any of the many tools available to create word clouds could be used. Gorman has taken the time to organize these ways into the following categories:

* All Subjects

* Science

* Language Arts

* Social Studies

* Math

* Health and PE and Consumer Sciences

* Art and Music

* Foreign Languages
* Applied Arts

* Careers

Below are two of the 125 suggestions. The first one is for science.

* Create a simple food chain showing representing each population of animal by word size. In fact create a whole food web of an area or biome. Use advanced number feature.

And this one is for social studies.

* Using statistical information from a place such as CIA World Fact Book create word clouds that illustrate country statistics such as resources, ethnic groups, religions, languages, etc.  You may wish to use advanced number feature to illustrate prominence of each.
