Everyone who attended OWS with a cell phone had their identity logged, says security expert | Privacy SOS | Société et technologie selon D-Max. | Scoop.it

"I can tell you that if you go into any police station right now, the first thing they do is tell you, "Oh I'm sorry you're not allowed to bring a cell phone in there. We'll hold it for you." Not a joke. And by the way it's a legitimate investigatory technique. But cell phones are now the little snitch in your pocket. Cell phones tell me where you are, what you do, who you talk to, everbody you associate with. Cell phone tells me [sic] intimate details of your life and character, including: Were you at a demonstration? Did you attend a mosque? Did you demonstrate in front of an abortion clinic? Did you get an abortion?"

Mars rover camera project manager explains 2MP camera choice

Mars rover camera project manager explains 2MP camera choice | Société et technologie selon D-Max. | Scoop.it

A number of factors led to the use of 2MP sensors in the main imaging cameras used on NASA's Mars rover, Curiosity, says the project manager responsible for their development. The slow data rates available for broadcasting images back to Earth and the team's familiarity with that family of sensors played a part, says Malin Space Science Systems' Mike Ravine, but the biggest factor was the specifications being fixed as far back as 2004. Multi-shot panoramas will see the cameras deliver high-res images, he explains, but not the 3D movies Hollywood director James Cameron had wanted...

Antisec’s FBI hack proves that government is lying about domestic spying

Antisec’s FBI hack proves that government is lying about domestic spying | Société et technologie selon D-Max. | Scoop.it
If the FBI is tracking at least 12 million Apple users, how many millions more are being tracked, and how is this legal?
David-Maxime Samson's insight:

« You are forbidden to outsmart the system, to defy it, to work around it. In short, while you may hack for the status quo, you are forbidden to hack the status quo. Just do what you’re told. Don’t worry about dirty geopolitical games, that’s business for the elite. They’re the ones that give dancing orders to our favorite general, Keith, while he happily puts on a ballet tutu. Just dance along, hackers. »

| Scoop.it
