Deceptive Fast Food Advertisements vs Reality | Digital & Internet Marketing News | Scoop.it
Ever wonder why consumers are immune to little bits of hype and often seem oblivious to large amounts of it too? Perhaps it's because they're fed a constant steady diet of it until it becomes their new minimum threshold. Have a look at this common marketing deception and I think you'll see why!

Pierrick Fischer's curator insight, July 25, 2013 4:09 AM

Mac Donald's marketing team is amazing. We all value their genious ways of turning something that is (actually) pure fast food, into something exciting and appetizing.

Their campaigns are well executed, targeted, and often produce a great boost to sales.

So what's the trick? What's the difference between that perfectly round shape/golden breaded burger in the ads and what you end up with on your plate?

Answer from McD: it's the same ingredients, only disposition changes, with a strong graphic team working behind the curtain.

But the question remains: how far can they go? Where's that point when product presentation is so different than the actual delivered product it actually damages the brand?

malek's comment, July 26, 2013 8:49 AM
you have a great point here: Over-promise, Under-deliver
Kimberly Castleberry's comment, July 26, 2013 6:33 PM
McD's claims it's the same stuff - but the food photography industry is LOADED with plastic demo products that are especially made for camera work. I didn't really realize that until I worked with a small farmer owned pork cooperative that needed to include photos with recipe cards and discovered that the plastic demo items worked exceptionally better than the real thing.

Vicki Link's curator insight, July 25, 2013 1:31 PM

So what holds YOU back from building something you've been dreaming of for perhaps a very LONG time?

You know you want to build something, invent something, instill something into others but seems like the wildest obstacles keep coming your way...  I read this quote today and it's one I think I'll post on every mirror in my house:

"I myself AM going to do this. Others can't but - I CAN and I WILL."  - Tsongkhapa, famous teacher of Tibetan Buddhism (1357-1419).

To do something really big means taking that 'inner wussy' that's been hiding out and evicting it. This is not for the weak of heart.   But what if you surprised yourself, learned a few new skills and realized you could trust yourself to pull the unusual off? How would you feel about YOU then?

I all but live in Facebook and have done for several years now. It is fascinating to see your online home self destructing in the way that it has done over the past few weeks.
Kimberly Castleberry's insight:

Sad but true. I've been saying this for a while but everyone is trying to pretend like it's not happening. Of course, a site the size of Facebook doesn't die overnight. Not even over 2 years. Heck, even MySpace is still around. But good luck finding your friends there. Facebook has to appease shareholders and we cross our fingers that it can do that before it completely implodes. The hate towards FB is high and even the people who use it most often often complain of feeling trapped there. Not really the energy you want people to feel towards your company!

Google Analytics Hit Limits: When 10 Million Suddenly Seems Like a Small Number - SwellPath

Google Analytics Hit Limits: When 10 Million Suddenly Seems Like a Small Number - SwellPath | Digital & Internet Marketing News | Scoop.it
Over the past year or so, we’ve seen even more of our clients (old and new) hit various limits in Google Analytics. One of those is the 10 million hit limit. I’m going to cover briefly what a “hit” is...
Kimberly Castleberry's insight:

Did you know that Google Analytics has limits? Interesting ones in fact! Not something for a small blog to worry about but certainly something larger company sites and launch platform sites need to be aware of!  More commonly though, smaller sites can still get in trouble with the hits counter because they choose to monitor a ton of events which each also generate hits and so send the values unusually high earlier than you might expect. Interesting post!
