YouTube's new Google+-powered comments have reportedly caused an uptick in spam messages.

Google's recent attempt to fix spam on YouTube is currently flopping due to the arrival of link spam in the G+ style comment forms. The company is working to solve this but at the moment it would be wise to check on your active videos to ensure you don't have spam you need to delete.

After Facebook's relaunch of it's like and share buttons this week, now also Google has introduced newly designed buttons, however  not quite with the same  tamtam, almost silently. Maybe they don't want to be considered as a copycat?

Authorship as we know it is changing... and it's probably for the better.  I still suggest adding your authorship tags though as it will will help make sure that Google DOES have that data. These changes mean that those that have been penalized for not having it are going to have less penalty but it's still a good thing to make sure that Google explicitly knows that certain pieces of content are yours.

Google's Hangout's have grown up and we're getting our first taste of their multi-tool-integrated monetezation strategy for them. "Helpouts" are hangouts where you pay to have someone help you, teach you, train you etc. They integrate deep into the Google ecosystem and present some unique marketing opportunities. I'm pleased to see them working on funding models for this that are not display ad driven.
