Yong Ong's curator insight, April 23, 9:17 AM

Building up a good image is essential to many individual, product or services. In this information technology age, where social media marketing is essential for almost all goods that are available in the market, the first impression on social network platform such as Facebook could simply decide its popularity in the market.

A right cover photo of a Facebook page could help lure the appetite of potential customers toward the product. This picture is required to be delivering ideas and information to customer directly. Messages such as announcements, brief description of products and event promotion could be shown on cover photo. This could either etch positive or negative image on targeted customers.  Creating a positive first impression could spark interest in consumers, then further browsing and explore of the brand could potentially be carried out by the consumers.

Beisdes that, companies could utilise the cover photo of consumers. For instance, consumer would post their photo of drinking a bottle of  Ace of Spade Champaign. The showing off behaviour of certain group of consumer could be exploited and use it as a platform to gain popularity to the brand.

Nevertheless, there is risk of posting prohibited photos that are against the terms and conditions of Facebook. Photos with labels such as price, discounts, to like, share or comment are strictly prohibited.

Therefore, it is believe that utilising cover photo on Facebook well could help in branding and marketing. However, the terms and conditions of posting should be taken into deep consideration.

Facebook App Vulnerabilities Could Compromise Your Account

Facebook App Vulnerabilities Could Compromise Your Account | Digital & Internet Marketing News | Scoop.it
Two newly discovered Android app vulnerabilities could give an attacker unrestricted access to your Facebook account.
Kimberly Castleberry's insight:

By now, you're probably familiar with the Skype attack where an infected account urges you to download a file... and if you are not alert, you trust the "person" (that you don't realize is hacked) and download/open the file without thinking..... well, that type of attack has now come to Android and was having a field day in the Facebook app.

Fortunately, for the moment, the vulnerability has been patched, but that's not to stay that it won't return.

Hackers seem to have too much time on their hands.

Don't download stuff from someone without confirming with them that it's something you actually want and ensuring they are actually themselves.

Kimberly Castleberry's insight:

We repeatedly are seeing more and more teens indicate that they have "forgotten about" Facebook (though many are still raving fans). However, the debate still seems up in the air about which network teens are favoring today. It seems to me as though teens have not yet settled on their new "network of choice" and this may in part due to the quicker acquisition model and thus invasion by adults that we see today. Definitely something to keep an eye on as teens wander about and look for their new hub.

I all but live in Facebook and have done for several years now. It is fascinating to see your online home self destructing in the way that it has done over the past few weeks.
Kimberly Castleberry's insight:

Sad but true. I've been saying this for a while but everyone is trying to pretend like it's not happening. Of course, a site the size of Facebook doesn't die overnight. Not even over 2 years. Heck, even MySpace is still around. But good luck finding your friends there. Facebook has to appease shareholders and we cross our fingers that it can do that before it completely implodes. The hate towards FB is high and even the people who use it most often often complain of feeling trapped there. Not really the energy you want people to feel towards your company!
