Nine Mistakes Most Businesses Make on Social Media [infographic] | Social Media Today

Nine Mistakes Most Businesses Make on Social Media [infographic] | Social Media Today | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it
Anyone who owns and runs a business should already understand the importance of an effective social media campaign, but there are a lot of businesses out there that get it wrong.
Jessica Kelly's insight:

I've seen all of these mistakes, frustrating but true, and I agree that focusing on quantity instead of quality is top o' the list. The nine also includes "not converting," and so I'll add the caveat that awareness/visibility can be a goal in and of itself, as continued awareness can lead to conversions in the long term. All in all, a good graphic.

Reasons Why Your CEO Should Be on Social Media | Marketing Technology Blog

Reasons Why Your CEO Should Be on Social Media | Marketing Technology Blog | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it

"Did you know that only 1 out of 5 CEOs has even opened a social media account? In my opinion, that’s absolutely pitiful given that the core competency of virtually any executive nowadays should be their ability to communicate with prospects, customers, employees, and investors. Social media provides an amazingly efficient means to communicate the vision and leadership you want customers to see, your employees to love, and your investors to have faith in!"

Jessica Kelly's insight:

So many compelling points here, including the fact that 80% of consumers say they'd be more likely to trust a company whose CEO and team engage on social -- and they'd be more likely to buy from that company, too.

All Your Social Media Posts Now Sorted by Location and Up for Sale | VentureBeat

All Your Social Media Posts Now Sorted by Location and Up for Sale | VentureBeat | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it
Geofeedia geolocates all your social media postings by name and location and then posts them for the world to see.
Jessica Kelly's insight:

It's not all bad news:

"The good news for those wishing to opt out of seeing their name on a virtual push-pin in their hometown is they can use their privacy settings on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media services to the fullest extent. Doing so means their photos and musings would theoretically be off-limits to Geofeedia clients."

However:

"But this isn’t so if a friend saves them and then reposts into the ether."

No, this isn't surprising, but I think we can sigh sadly anyway.

The Anatomy of a Social CEO | Innovation Insight

"Everyone in society, just as everyone on a team, really does matter equally. All people have their own strengths and weaknesses, and each person contributes to the group in their own unique ways. This insight has inspired me to become what I call a Social CEO, but more on that topic in a moment."

Jessica Kelly's insight:

More: "I’m convinced that it takes a Social CEO to effectively run a business in the 21st century. By a Social CEO, I mean a leader who adopts social media tools to better understand what motivates the entire team, and then digs in to help them solve real-world challenges. A Social CEO is a chief executive who adroitly uses social media to check the pulse of the organization and channel the energy of the staff." Well said.

Twitter Becomes Its Own Second Screen with Dockable Videos that Play While You Browse | TechCrunch

Twitter Becomes Its Own Second Screen with Dockable Videos that Play While You Browse | TechCrunch | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it

"You could call it Picture-In-Twitter. Last week Twitter launched its dockable audio Card, and similar functionality is appearing for video so you can keep watching clips as you browse..."

Jessica Kelly's insight:

This video strategy follows on the heels of Twitter's audio card, which gives users a docked music player. Thins means that video can be less intrusive on Twitter, and so you might actually watch that video ad. The bigger opportunity, notes Josh Constine, is the potential for long-form video: "Imagine following along with a docked video of a sports match or awards show as you read and post tweets about the event."
