As social networks change, so do their best practices for marketers. Avoid these four soon-to-be outdated social media tactics.

This good post compels me to share a bit of commentary on each tactic...

1.  I still RT the old fashioned way from time to time. To be honest, I think I do it just b/c it requires a bit more skill than using the quote feature.

2.  I do connect w/many, many people on LinkedIn, but that doesn't mean I accept all invites, connect w/spammers, or invite connection w/people for absolutely no reason other than to increase my connection count.

3.  I do not send auto-DMs; never have, never will, am a little surprised they haven't already died out.

4.  This is a neutral one for me. I rarely use more than 1-3 hashtags, and I'm selective in re which ones I use, but I've also found good info in tweets that were stuffed w/relevant tags—tweets I would not have found had they not been stuffed to include the tag I searched on. I'd say common sense dictates here.

Bonus aside: I can't afford to miss business calls b/c of poor cell coverage, interference, low battery, etc. And, so, my office still has a landline, and I'm guessing it will for some time to come. :)
