The Newest Version of Scoop.it: Welcome to the Meritoc[u]racy | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it
1.  Why sharing ideas that matter, matters
We built Scoop.it to make it easy and rewarding to share ideas that matter.
Ideas matter: they make all of us, individuals, businesses and societies, progress.
Jessica Kelly's insight:

"Scoop.it is not a place where random users trick scoring algorithms by posting “lol cat pictures” or “twerking videos.” Scoop.it is a place where passionate people, savvy professionals, and serious businesses come to discover, enrich and publish ideas that matter; for their visibility and for their reputation."

A huge list of sources for shareable content that your followers will love. Always have amazing stories on hand to share.
Jessica Kelly's insight:

Again with the numbered lists -- I know, I know -- but it's always a good idea to research new sources -- and to be reminded of those you've been neglecting. For me, I'd forgotten about News.me and NewsCred completely, and I've been neglecting Prismatic and Swayy. I'll close by reminding that you can customize Scoop.it to feed your many of your favorite sources directly into your "suggestion engine."

Jessica Kelly's insight:

Yes, this post has three strikes against it (at least for me).

1. It's yet another *list.*

2. It's a list of *quotes.*

3. It refers to *hotness.*

BUT there are some really good statements to consider here. My favorite:

Five Ways To Know If Your Content Idea Will Work [infographic] | NewsCred | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it
When you're in a great brainstorm meeting and the creative juices are flowing, it's easy to get carried away. Before you know it, you're pitching ideas about cats in tuxedos and wondering if there's any room in your video budget for a Michael Bay-style explosion. And while that all sounds great in the room, those ideas may not get you the results you really want. Effective branded content is created strategically with the intent to serve your brand's goals....
Jessica Kelly's insight:

These may seem obvious, but given the glut of content that is neither focused nor relevant, I guess we all need a reminder from time to time!

Good reasons listed here -- and I'd add that high-quality content curation can build relationships, both with content providers, because you're sharing their work, and with content consumers, because you're giving them useful information. And if you're a hard-core curator [guilty, me], you build a great reference library for yourself and anyone who comes across your storehouse.

Just Like Facebook, Twitter's New Impression Stats Suggest Few Followers See What's Tweeted | Marketing Land

Just Like Facebook, Twitter's New Impression Stats Suggest Few Followers See What's Tweeted | Marketing Land | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it
Twitter has new analytics available that let anyone understand exactly how viewed their tweets are. Those stats also clear something else up. Just like Facebook, what you share on Twitter isn’t seen by all your followers. Facebook has been under fire for over a year as brands have noticed that their posts have gotten less […]
Jessica Kelly's insight:

So there is some useful information here, but I disagree with the comparison with Facebook. Facebook *filters* what it displays, and so your followers may not get a chance to see your post in their feed. Twitter, on the other hand, displays everything you post in the (yes, very busy) stream. It may lead to a similar outcome -- low reach -- but for reasons so different that it makes the comparison feel inaccurate to me.

Another point of disagreement for me is the assumption that if Facebook stopped filtering, impressions and engagement might not rise. OK, they *might* not, but given how most everyone with a FB page has seen reach and therefore engagement go down w/ FB's increase in filtering, that "might" seems unlikely.
