While Facebook remains the most popular social media site, other platforms — like LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter — saw higher rates of growth over the past year. In 2014, 52% of online adults used two or more social media sites, up from 42% in 2013.

So in a nutshell, FB growth has slowed, but user engagement has grown. Conversely, other platforms (LI, Pin, Insta, Tw) show more growth but stagnant engagement numbers. Me, I'd rather see engagement -- basic body counts aren't terribly meaningful.

For example on Facebook contests and posting visual content can be more effective versus posting engaging content on LinkedIn about your company.
