Facebook Testing Call-to-Action Options on Organic Video Posts | Inside Facebook | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it
As discovered by Memorado and Inside Facebook reader Matteo Gamba, some pages have the option to add a call to action when they upload a video.
Jessica Kelly's insight:

This is interesting because it may allow CTAs for all video posts (or all posts?) to pages, not just for paid content.

Is GooglePlus the Antisocial Network? | Social Media Today

Is GooglePlus the Antisocial Network? | Social Media Today | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it
While there may be a subculture of Google+ zealots who treat Google+ like a forum instead of a social network, the majority of people who love Plus are using it, according to Michael Reynolds, as a “source of content, inspiration, and communication” – more like a reader, a place to keep up with mentors, creators, influencers, and thought leaders. For most, Google+ is an antisocial network.
Jessica Kelly's insight:

I think "antisocial" can accurately describe G+ for many (not all) users, and I love Chris Abraham's hypothesis that many Plussers may be introverts who could use this tagline: “Google+: Leave me alone, I am happy right where I am, hanging with people just like me, allegedly from around the world.”  Allegedly! :-D

Scared that Facebook's ban of the Like-gate will make it harder to get fans? I feel ya! So I asked 17 Facebook experts to explain how the news affects you.
Jessica Kelly's insight:

You probably already know that FB is banning the tactic of making people like a page to see its content or participate in contests. While many are bemoaning this change, this post argues why you just might be better off employing a strategy that garners likes from people who actually care about your brand/content.

Why Twitter Shouldn't Bother with E-Commerce | ReadWrite

Why Twitter Shouldn't Bother with E-Commerce | ReadWrite | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it

"Social media companies like Twitter and Facebook want to make money, and coupling payments with social identity seems like an easy way to do it. After all, we’ll eventually be paying with our smartphones and mobile applications that store our credit card information, so in a way it makes sense to tie our online social identities to our money."

Jessica Kelly's insight:

"The social impulse is not a shopping impulse...Payments aren't social." While I understand that social platforms like Twitter will--must--keep trying to monetize [shudder], not only do I not shop via social, I block every ad I possibly can. And I know I'm not alone.

LinkedIn Has Quietly Rolled Out a Follow Button to Millions of Members | ReadWrite

LinkedIn Has Quietly Rolled Out a Follow Button to Millions of Members | ReadWrite | SocialMoMojo Web | Scoop.it

"A gigantic change is quietly sweeping through LinkedIn. Millions of members now have a "Follow" button, a feature that promises to transform how we think about our interactions on the professional network."

Jessica Kelly's insight:

OK, so yes, the ability to follow people w/whom you can't or don't want to connect is new and interesting, but I think the most important thing in this mix is the reinstatement of the activity feed, which LI also did recently (and quietly). You'll see it referenced here when the author directs you to the drop-down near the Connect button -- voila, it's the old activity feed that used to appear on all of our profile pages, the old activity feed you used to use to get to know  your connections (and potential connections) better. If you want to share your activity feed link so people can get to it quickly, know that the URL is long and ugly -- and so I'd recommend shortening it. Here's mine: http://bit.ly/lijjkelly

And if you're a hard-core curator [guilty, me], you build a great reference library for yourself and anyone who comes across your storehouse.
