Tweet Like a Girl, a humor-focused Twitter account with more than 1 million followers, tweeted the CDC’s “Facts About Ebola” image and warned followers to stop “freaking out.” The message has been retweeted almost 12,000 times, spreading much further than it did through the original CDC tweet. In this case, one of the most-shared messages of the Ebola crisis is spreading fact instead of fiction.

To succeed at Snapchat, you need to understand the platform, the audience, and produce good content--the same as any other social media channel.
Josie Ahlquist's insight:

Any content, no matter what the channel, has to be grounded in a strategy and produces creative content that matches that strategy, reaches the goals, and keeps the target audience in mind."

Helping Low-Income Seniors Build A Social Web Online | KPLU.org

Helping Low-Income Seniors Build A Social Web Online | KPLU.org | Social Media Advancement and Mangement | Scoop.it

The Internet is often considered the realm of the young. But in the U.S., people over 65 are one of the fastest-growing groups to go online, and social media usage among seniors has soared.

A program in Washington, D.C., is designed to bring more seniors online, especially those who are socially isolated.

The Connecting to Community training program is sponsored by the AARP Foundation in partnership with the nonprofit Older Adults Technology Services, Comcast and the D.C. social services organization Family Matters of Greater Washington.

It puts the latest digital tools in the hands of low-income, older Americans to help them combat loneliness and develop social connections through social media and other online offerings.

The program's pilot run just finished in Washington, D.C., and while the free iPad tablets the students received were brand new, some of the people using them were born decades before Bill Gates or Steve Jobs were out of diapers.

How To Build The Perfect Tumblr Profile For Business

How To Build The Perfect Tumblr Profile For Business | Social Media Advancement and Mangement | Scoop.it

Brands need to fish where the fish are, and they are on all three platforms. Tumblr, with its Instagram-meets-blogging positioning, is a channel that is under-represented by many brands. Somewhere between 30 and 300 million Millennial consumers (yes, it’s a big spread) and others value this vast visual destination to consume and curate content. It’s a great place to get to know brand better. Tumblr is certainly not the last-touch in the B2B or B2C sales funnel. However, it is a great destination along the buyer journey.
