Visual content is exploding on social media, with sites like Pinterest and Vine leading the charge.

Even Twitter, which started as a place to post short and simple messages, now has images for a more visual experience. Indeed, the future of digital media is upon us — and it’s rich with visual content.

According to an infographic from Oracle, there are five tweets per second that include a Vine link. The acquisitions of Tumblr and Vizify point to an increased interest in interactive media and infographics, with Yahoo investing in visual media.

¿Alguna vez te has preguntad qué comparte la gente en las redes sociales? Y, ¿por qué lo comparte?

Esta interesante y completa infografía muestra los elementos más compartidos en las redes sociales durante el año 2013. Estos van desde vídeos hasta opiniones o noticias.

También se analiza lo compartido en las diferentes redes sociales y por qué se eligen esos medios para compartirlo.

Por último, es posible conocer los datos demográficos de los usuarios de redes sociales.

 

Para terminar... un dato curioso: Según este estudio, el país en el que más contenido se comparte a través de las redes sociales es Turquía, con un 93 %.

Nel 2006, due anni dopo la sua nascita, Facebook introdusse il News Feed, il rullo di notizie che ogni utente vede in homepage.

Nicoletta Gay's insight:

1. Affinity: riguarda il legame con chi ha scritto il post. Quanto più mostriamo di avere un rapporto stretto con un utente/pagina, tanto più vedremo le cose che scrive.

 

2. Weight: è il peso che Facebook attribuisce ad ogni post pubblicato dagli iscritti. Quindi uno status update che riceve tanti like, commenti, condivisioni, che non è stato nascosto o segnalato come spam da tanti, ha più possibilità di comparire nella timeline.

 

3. Time Decay: dopo l’ultimo aggiornamento ha assunto minore rilevanza la freschezza del contenuto. Ciò vuol dire che le storie più vecchie, che l’utente avrebbe perduto se non fosse stato online all’atto della pubblicazione, risulteranno visibili se continuano a ricevere interazioni.

 

4. Post Type: anche la tipologia di post scritto sembra avere una sua importanza. Facebook attribuisce un peso minore agli status update meramente testuali, mentre privilegia quelli con foto, video e link contenenti metadati.

Recently, members of Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania released their findings from a study on the effect of social media content on customer engagement. 

In the study conducted via Facebook, Dokyun Lee and Kartik Hosanagar of the University of Pennsylvania, and Harikesh Nair of Stanford, set out to investigate what type of content was more effective to engage the target audience for an advertiser on social media.
