Are You Social Signaling Google?

Are You Social Signaling Google? | Socialized SEO | Scoop.it

Realtors, Mortgage pros sites, dentists, doctors and more local based sites have seen Googles preference for local force their organic results down below the Places results. Yelp on Fake Reviews: We Filter 25% of Reviews for Being Suspicious

Yelp on Fake Reviews: We Filter 25% of Reviews for Being Suspicious | Socialized SEO | Scoop.it
Yelp says that up to a quarter of the reviews the company receives may be fake, and that its automated review filter suppresses about 25 percent of reviews it deems as being suspicious. However, Yelp admits that the system isn't completely accurate.
Tim O'Keefe's insight:

The review supression is interesting. Yelp is not the only one. Like Yelp Google gives value to reviews that are "aged" and active accounts at reviewing. So there is a certain type of person that is getting perhaps an unfair amount of credibility compared to the one time reviewer. It seems to me this is terrific for the self proclaimed internet cops that have nothing better than to comment and review companies.

Be where your competition isn't.

TBS/WTCG also bid very low on programming, leaving the network-affiliated stations in the market to get the stronger shows. But, because of programming commitments that the affiliates had to their networks, they kept the shows for only a few years and rarely renewed them, after which WTCG bought syndicated shows second-hand at much lower prices. By the mid-1970s, The Andy Griffith Show, The Flintstones, Leave It to Beaver, The Little Rascals, My Three Sons, Star Trek, The Three Stooges and many others were added to the schedule.

Tim O'Keefe's insight:

Another tactic was to run TBS broadcasts while everyone else was broadcasting commercials. Thus allowing TBS to catch the "flippers". Be where your competition isn't.
