The Social Media Dimensions Blueprint (Infographic) | sociale media scoops | Scoop.it

Like all new technology, social media changes fast.

Just trying to keep your head around all of the different platforms, how to approach them and, of course, how to design for them can be a full time job.

Social media has proven itself as a crucial component of a brand’s marketing mix, but with the many different platforms, it can be very difficult to put forth a consistent brand image online.

The [Ridiculously Exhausitive] Social Media Design Blueprint features all of the major design dimensions for all of the major platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIN, YouTube, Pinterest and the most recent entry, Instagram.

It's time to optimize for social search

It's time to optimize for social search | sociale media scoops | Scoop.it

The rate at which people share information (profound and profane alike) on sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube is staggering.

Social media properties have clearly made the processes of creating and sharing content a compelling activity for everyone. Yet the story is altogether different when it comes to retrieving content. Ever tried to search for an old post in Facebook? Pretty difficult if the update was more than a month old. Ever tried to search for tweets older than a week using Twitter search? If SEO is dead, social media will be, too, in another five years.

In today’s search world, there’s a lot of talk about how social is “taking over,” how “content is king,” and how search engine optimization is “dead” – with search updates like Penguin and Panda hitting the final nails on the coffin. Sounds very dramatic, doesn’t it?

Yes, social is more significant than ever. But, it is too early to draw any conclusions about the death of SEO based on the patterns that we’re seeing. If anything, what we’re seeing today are the after effects of a healthy transition.
