Interesting to consider as well from various roles/ fields -- what are the missing skills in social media amongst teachers, nurses, social workers, parents, students, police officers etc.

The End of a Job as We Know It

The End of a Job as We Know It | SocialMediaDesign | Scoop.it

The concept of a job, as we know it, is starting to go away.

Over the last year I've been speaking with many corporate business and HR leaders and have heard a common theme:we need our organizations to be more agile. We need to redesign the organization so we can learn faster, communicate better, and respond more rapidly to change. This quest for the agile organization has changed the nature of what we call a job.

Yes David, a long time ago that things have changed ... finally happily. I think you gave good advice to your children, who will always be on the safe side if they focus on life and relationships.
Martin Gysler's comment, January 16, 2013 4:43 AM
@ Don - I read an article last week on the same subject and I think you say right that deep skills are (or should be) the currency of the job. More and more companies have understood this reality today.
Martin Gysler's comment, January 16, 2013 4:54 AM
@Trumans - Yes, I totally agree with you. Relationships and our network is more important than ever. It is sometimes simply complicated, for me, to set a limit ... :-). Your training seems to be great, if you can put together five acronyms and if those who follow the training understands the strong message sent.

40 Social Media Curation Sites and Tools

40 Social Media Curation Sites and Tools | SocialMediaDesign | Scoop.it

Last month I shared 40+ networks that you could consider depending on your niche or interests. As part of my commitment to this community, I shared that I will expand on this list througout 2012. So here is the first addition to that build! The topic- Curation!I thought I would focus on curation because a) I have a favorite site and b) there has been a lot of “press” on Pinterest as a curation tool and as a result I thought the timing was right. However before I list the sites lets talk curation.

What is social media curation?

Today, with the exponential growth of social networks and blogs, it can be overwhelming searching for information on the internet. As a result, the act of filtering, selecting, reviewing and providing commentary with a perspective on an article, or collection of articles, have become increasingly important. This is known as social media curation. Recently, I had posed the question : What is a social media curator” on Linkedin.

Thanks Everyone for this feedback. Just wonderful.

Robin- absolutely appreciated the feedback. I did visit all the sites to ensure that they were still in operation however missed some very important details. So thank you so much for providing the clarification needed. :))

Martin you need to do a little of what the article says - add your own perspective! I read the info and thought you had written it until I went to the link.
Martin Gysler's comment, January 23, 2012 3:05 AM
Hi Carey, I consider scoop.it as a tool to provide interesting information and not really as a curation tool, but, maybe you're right and I should reconsider my opinion about my approach! Thank you for your feedback.

Top 30 Business and Marketing News Sources by Forbes

Robin Good's curator insight, February 28, 2013 5:27 AM

Michael Brenner has put together a useful list of the top 30 news sources you should be following if you are interested in online business and marketing news.

Useful, resourceful. 7/10

P.S.: In my humble opinion, this list is tainted by the author placing the magazine he writes for (Forbes in this case) as the top one in the list. As a curator this is something I suggest to avoid like the pest as it instantly taints your supposedly impartial collector skills with a way too evident marketing effort, which dents significantly into the credibility of the overall list and the on the reputation of the writer.

In my effort to help others recognize effective curation from simple-minded content marketing efforts I feel quite important to highlight such small details, as even though they may appear of no relevance to some people today, they will have enormous importance - in my opinion - in the near future.

Here's what Robin Good (the original curator) has to say about the article, so you know why no 1 is missing from the list. He's spot on, I'd say :

A Curated Video Site Focusing Only on Educating Entrepreneurs: CoFounder TV | SocialMediaDesign | Scoop.it

Robin Good: Here is a good example of video curation at work. CoFounder.tv is a video web site curating only the best and most inspiring entrepreneurship video clips. From startuppers, to investors and VCs, the growing collection strives to bring together a variety of viewpoints from those who have been there.

The curated video site is maintained by Rony El-Nashar, a VC at Dubai based SeedStartup, a startup accelerator and seed venture fund that invests in early-stage startups from all around the world.

He writes: "My goal with Cofounder TV is to build a resource that educates and inspires entrepreneurs globally."

Right on track. A pioneering example of what you are going to see in place of blogs soon. 9/10
