wonderWALL, interactive light installation by by LIKEarchitects - #lightart | Socialart | Scoop.it

wonderWALL is an exhibition space designed to receive the masterpiece The Pool by Jen Lewin in Colombo Shopping Mall, in Lisbon, Portugal, built with approximately 20,000 strips of white and black fabric.
The temporary museum is totally suspended from the skylight on the central square and presents an abstract skin which oscillates with airflows created by the movement of people. The cylindrical space seeks to emphasise the centrality of the exposed artwork, enhanced by the abdication of a main entrance in favour of a fully permeable facade that dissolves the entrance along the entire periphery of the space. ...

The modular music box by monomatic

Nick Rothwell and Lewis Sykes will present their joint art project – Monomatic – introducing their collaborative body of work and drawing out some of the interpretative, creative and technical challenges they’ve faced along the way.

Monomatic is a collaboration, experimental playground and halfway house between the work of Nick Rothwell – composer, performer, software architect, programmer and sound designer – and Lewis Sykes – musician, interaction designer, experimental visualist, digital media producer and curator. They explore sound and interaction through physical works that investigate rich and sonorous musical traditions, such as PEAL: A Virtual Campanile – an installation which models the layout and operation of a traditional church bell tower – and the Modular Music Box – a reinterpretation of the familiar 19th century clockwork musical instrument.

Social Collider - an artistic datavisualization of twitter - by Karsten Schmidt & Sascha Pohflepp | Socialart | Scoop.it
The Social Collider reveals cross-connections between conversations on Twitter. It acts as a metaphorical instrument which can be used to make visible how memes get created and how they propagate. Ideally, it might catch the Zeitgeist at work.

12 artistes vivent pendant six mois avec la même identité - 12 artists lives with the same identity

12 artistes vivent pendant six mois avec la même identité - 12 artists lives with the same identity | Socialart | Scoop.it

english : http://www.ztohoven.com/?page_id=50&lang=en

The Heart Bot, an interactive installation by Sid Lee (Intel SMS Audio Launch Event) #mediaart

To celebrate this breakthrough technology Intel and SMS brought in Sid Lee to create an interactive digital and physical art instillation for guests to experience at the event. We collaborated with interactive director and New Museum fellow, Aramique from Tool. Together we created “The Heart Bot”. The Heart Bot is an experimental drawing machine controlled by the heart rate of a viewer. Heart Bot collects heart rate data from a large group of people during a fixed time, at a fixed location and translates it into generative art, demonstrating that each individual experiences a moment in a very personal way. The final work of art created by Heart Bot will be donated to Feeding America®, the nation’s leading domestic hunger relief charity.

▶ The Transition Between Human And Cyborg : meet media artist Aaajiao (interview 2013)

▶ The Transition Between Human And Cyborg : meet media artist Aaajiao (interview 2013) | Socialart | Scoop.it

Chinese media artist Aaajiao combines visual and musical aspects to create works of art that imitate nature in thought-provoking new ways.

Aaajiao (XU Wenkai) was born in 1984 in Xi'an, and later moved to Shanghai, where he continues to live and work. Aaajiao is one of China's foremost media artists, bloggers and free culture developers. In 2003 he established the sound art website: cornersound.com, and in 2006 he founded the Chinese take on the blog We Make Money Not Art: We Need Money Not Art. He is devoted to Processing, an open source visual programming software, Dorkbot, a non-profit initiative for creative minds, and eventstructure, an interdisciplinary center for art, media technology and academic research based in Shanghai. In his works in general, Aaajiao focuses on the use of data and its various forms of display, and how meaning is understood through the process of transforming the movement from reality, to data, and back again. His most significant aesthetic contribution to new media in China is a social one, acting as a vector for the interpretation and communication of international and local trends in the usages of software in artistic practice.
